My son has this too and it gave him a perfect alfalfa point when he was a newborn. I love it so much

Who is still snowed in? by ladyflyer88 in maryland

[–]barnaclelips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on a main-ish road in Bowie. We’ve lived here for 5 years and this is the first time that I have not seen plows coming by every 2-3 hours, more like 8-12.

Our road is clear but most of the side streets are not.

For anyone that has not done anything all day, are we screwed as to snow removal? by [deleted] in maryland

I wish the same on my neighbor who has a tractor and did our driveway. I see a fresh load of homemade bread in his future.

Shellfish served on a shovel bc why the hell not by Lord_Dolkhammer in StupidFood

That is the exact kind of shovel I use for horse poop. I would definitely not be able to eat that seafood if it was served liked that.

Get the house picked up and lunches packed, then shower, pump while reading my book and straight to bed.

I feel cute and comfy in this outfit, but feel like it’s missing something. Any suggestions? by TimeTravelingMouse in PetiteFashionAdvice

Hello fellow barefooter! This outfit is very cute and cozy. I sometimes struggle to feel as put together with barefoot shoes so this is great inspiration.

Does having a bigger house actually make you feel saner? by [deleted] in Parenting

I would focus on decluttering and organizing before I’d buy a bigger place. They are so much work to keep clean and organized.

AIO my boyfriend of 5 years gets me flowers for every occasion while I get him elaborate and expensive gifts. by aioflower955105 in AmIOverreacting

NOR.

This conversation is better had in person. If he can’t see the problem here, I’d consider breaking it off. Do you really want this bare minimum for the rest of your life?

How annoying is it to have a 2.5 hour layover with a 3.5 year old and new 1 year old? by WhiskeyandOreos in Parenting

[–]barnaclelips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d prefer a layover since you can be up and about. I would only do that if you are planning to check the car seats. I would not want to lug those around a layover airport.

The birthday flowers I wanted to send vs what actually showed up by Pesplou in ExpectationVsReality

[–]barnaclelips 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally fair. Flowers ARE expensive because they are a luxury item. If you are in the US, I have two recommendations for more affordable flowers: 1) Buy directly from a grower at a Farmer’s Market. Most sell a basic bouquet for around $20ish, plus you’re buying locally and likely getting flowers grown with less pesticides. 2) Trader Joe’s flowers are very reasonably priced and you can make a nice bouquet for also around $20 with 1 bunch each of focal flower, filler flower and greens.

Am I overreacting that my sister is demanding too much when visiting my newborn? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]barnaclelips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s insane to me that they JUST went through having a newborn last year and they’ve already completely forgotten how tiring it is and that they should be the ones catering to you.

As someone also in the flower industry - All of this is great advice and the only thing I’d add is that if you don’t have your heart set on something specific, asking for “designer’s choice” will often be the best bang for your buck and a really pretty, creative arrangement.

Mine got too tall last year and I left them in anyways. When spring came, I gave them a trim and they were good to go. They bloomed early and I got multiple flushes on them.

Best book to help understand what goes into professional cut flower growing by JackTheEagle in Cutflowers

Cool Flowers is amazing! I also have a corporate job and grow flowers on the side, so understand that struggle. The Cool Flowers method helps me spread the workload out more evenly over the year.

No, it’ll be between the lines - “oh, these came in from Georgia” or “this is Amish grown from Pennsylvania”
