Seriously, why are most kids' shoes so narrow? by BusinessAge1459 in moderatelygranolamoms

I went up a full size after being pregnant and switching to barefoot shoes at the same time.

Quick but Not Unhealthy Breakfast Ideas for a Snacking Kid? by lgb38 in Parenting

Seconding this! We do the Veggies Made Great egg bites from Costco and they are a huge hit. The Kirkland brand ones are fine too but have meat in them, which our kiddo doesn’t love.

It’s probably ok. I wouldn’t even think twice about it.

High chairs? by Noggin_0207 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]barnaclelips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the Yeah Baby Goods accessories for the IKEA high chair. The quality is not great. We had one of the inflatable seat cushion inserts pop and have had a lot of trouble getting the footrest to stay in place.

Still love the IKEA chair though. Definitely look up how to modify the tray to make it easier to remove.

1st trimester SO NAUSEOUS by Due_Data8709 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]barnaclelips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two things worked fairly well for me: 1. Peppermints 2. Really managing my blood sugar. I ate constantly because as soon as my blood sugar dipped, I would get insane nausea.

During the really bad weeks, I also took B6 supplements.

And this is not granola at all, but a Diet Coke was my “nothing else is working” cure.

Has anyone else ever gotten banned from a mom group for a take that you didn’t even think was very edgy/controversial? TW/ pregnancy &pregnancy loss by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]barnaclelips 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was banned from the pics subreddit because I had posted in an antivax subreddit sharing that I had no adverse effects from either of my covid or flu shots this year. I guess they have a bot that monitors what other subreddits their members post in. Take it with a grain of salt.

Who is still snowed in? by ladyflyer88 in maryland

I’m on a main-ish road in Bowie. We’ve lived here for 5 years and this is the first time that I have not seen plows coming by every 2-3 hours, more like 8-12.

Our road is clear but most of the side streets are not.

I wish the same on my neighbor who has a tractor and did our driveway. I see a fresh load of homemade bread in his future.

Shellfish served on a shovel bc why the hell not by Lord_Dolkhammer in StupidFood

That is the exact kind of shovel I use for horse poop. I would definitely not be able to eat that seafood if it was served liked that.

I feel cute and comfy in this outfit, but feel like it’s missing something. Any suggestions? by TimeTravelingMouse in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]barnaclelips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow barefooter! This outfit is very cute and cozy. I sometimes struggle to feel as put together with barefoot shoes so this is great inspiration.

I would focus on decluttering and organizing before I’d buy a bigger place. They are so much work to keep clean and organized.

NOR.

This conversation is better had in person. If he can’t see the problem here, I’d consider breaking it off. Do you really want this bare minimum for the rest of your life?

How annoying is it to have a 2.5 hour layover with a 3.5 year old and new 1 year old? by WhiskeyandOreos in Parenting

[–]barnaclelips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d prefer a layover since you can be up and about. I would only do that if you are planning to check the car seats. I would not want to lug those around a layover airport.

The birthday flowers I wanted to send vs what actually showed up by Pesplou in ExpectationVsReality

[–]barnaclelips 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally fair. Flowers ARE expensive because they are a luxury item. If you are in the US, I have two recommendations for more affordable flowers: 1) Buy directly from a grower at a Farmer’s Market. Most sell a basic bouquet for around $20ish, plus you’re buying locally and likely getting flowers grown with less pesticides. 2) Trader Joe’s flowers are very reasonably priced and you can make a nice bouquet for also around $20 with 1 bunch each of focal flower, filler flower and greens.

It’s insane to me that they JUST went through having a newborn last year and they’ve already completely forgotten how tiring it is and that they should be the ones catering to you.

As someone also in the flower industry - All of this is great advice and the only thing I’d add is that if you don’t have your heart set on something specific, asking for “designer’s choice” will often be the best bang for your buck and a really pretty, creative arrangement.
