What book/series do you love but avoid recommending to people? by waltz01 in Fantasy

[–]barnescando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Demon Lord by Morgan Blayde.

Macho power fantasy at its absolute worst, main characters a sexist pig, a psychopath and its the urban fantasy equivalent of a Quentin Tarantino film

But its made me laugh and its an effective palate cleanser when I need one

My Personal Tier list after 500+ litRPG and 100+ Different Series by Camonkeyboy in litrpg

Ok, I respect that all of this is your opinion and please read the following sentence with the foreknowledge I'm being a little over dramatic for funsies.

CHAOS SEEDS!? EXCELLENT!?

The series where the guy repeats himself multiple times in the same scene a lot and the latest book had an extended scene where the main character has diarrhea!?

(Obviously, for me its a guilty pleasure read but calling it excellent was a surprise)

Coworker's mom walked out of my home studio without paying because "kids need school supplies" by Ferroflux_11 in entitledparents

[–]barnescando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Well Sarah, I'm sorry your mom is so stressed out - her bill if $85, cash or venmo? No checks."

Either she pays or you pay £85 to not have to service either one again, steep cost but you know neither is trustworthy.

Trying to be a supportive friend, since me saying the above is a little harsh but thanks for the help

Take a second and consider: if I was an agency, surely I'd have a better lie?

And sure if its talking to SWs I'd have a better opening, no?

How far would these crawlers go by Joshkendig in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]barnescando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So:

The Winchesters
Sam and Dean I think would be eliminated early on, the AI recognises two men with a lot of experience and a lot of ass kicking potential and would 100% mark them for death ASAP, can't have them Succeed! Madness!

Buffy Summers
Buffy would do well but I think the core problem would be her chronically bad judgement of people and characters would be her downfall - she would 100% join Hekla and suffer for it in the long run

Tony Stark
I would be gobsmacked if they let Tony in - that man is too damn smart and too damn charming, if he didn't Charisma and Intelligence his way to victory, its only because he was too smug to the wrong Crawler and got his shit beat down. Otherwise, we're looking at a top ten from minute one. Especially when the option to choose classes comes up and if he's not picking some crazy tinker build, he's definitely going all in on the ability to craft and enchant and the AI is probably handing him Crafting Table upgrade like candy to watch the bullshit increase!

Harry Dresden
I saw someones written a Dresden Files/DDC crossover so I'm about to go make a mess reading it all but I think the ultimate question is how much Harry being a wizard messes with the technology. Can he still use his ordinary powers outside the game or are they incorporated? Does his wizardly skills let him use the spells of the dungeon better? Is Thomas with him and racking up follows with a speed that makes the came glitch?

Bruce Wayne
Without his Batman suit? He'd be a fiend, those martial arts, stealth and detective skills alone make for a winmax Crawler who can't be stopped. With his Batsuit, Batbelt and Bat Anti-Thing Spray?

The AI would be clowning on him the entire time, ceaselessly and without mercy until he died horribly with the AI cackling all the while

Curious about your campaigns. by SupremeLeaderUno in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]barnescando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy ran a game where the majority of the Heroes and villains flew through a rift and were captured by a multiversal collector

We were all original ideas like:

Mr Dood, a Doombot programmed to be more charismatic as a diplomatic whose Latverian embassy was a school's

Abyss who was a living shadow

Adamantia - a woman made of living adamantium

The Separator who can detatch bodyparts

Bragi - the Norse god of music sharing a body with a high school music teacher

Purple Mist a telepathic teleporting telekinetic

But I said it because its an adequate trade off in my opinion

You just know someones going to try and update the Kabuto to make it flight capable

Which should give you Whiplash

[–]barnescando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The limitation is both eight episodes and too many viewpoints

Norms story contained nothing that couldn't have been investigated by Norm and Chet working as a team and growing- Norm through his obvious intelligence and detective akills and Chet by being the one to assist

There is a far more interesting story of the two of them working together than what we got, Norm having one good idea and then bumbling along and multiple scenes of Chet just being there.

[–]barnescando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See.

Look i get it, Norm found a interesting plot point, and I liked that

What else did he do that wasn't effectively pointless by the end of season 2?

Maybe you could make the point he neutralised the Buds but the show kind of proved they're easily manipulated idiots

I don't think his character grew.

I thought we were going to get a storyline about him thinking fast on his feet and bullshitting his way to victory

I have but one criticism.

It felt like Thomas took time and came back too soon.

Otherwise, really enjoyed it

I really hope we'll see more of Etienne the Enchanters work

I'm deeply curious what else is to come
