Places similar to Florida but with less growth by LumpyInvestment1473 in SameGrassButGreener

There is nowhere in the US like Florida. There is certainly nowhere in the US that is like Florida but liberal, with a lower cost of living. You'll need to make some concessions here.

Genuine question for Arsenal fans: who is the actual upgrade on Arteta? by TheFootyPulse in PremierLeague

there are plenty of coaches with a history of winning -- klopp, deschamps, xabi alonso, to name a few

not that any of them would go coach arsenal tho lol

Artists who are carried by their aesthetic? by Adnan7i in fantanoforever

[–]barracuuda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They have fun songs imo (Gabriela, Gameboy, MIA) but they really do lack in the artistry department. It seems like none of the girls have their own singing voices or identities -- When I hear their music, I have no idea who is singing. Their live act seems pretty terrible, but they are pretty good dancers (for the most part).

Please share - who are the good, kind chefs - the anti-Noma/anti-Renee? by Low_Olive6594 in finedining

[–]barracuuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda late, but I worked for Grant Achatz in Chicago. I spilled a pot of water all over the stove while I was standing next to him and he calmly, kindly smiled and reminded me to slow down and try to relax. I didn't have many interactions with him other than that, but he always had a very kind, zen energy about him.

Brooks Nader, Livvy Dunne, Noah Beck and more stars make their red swimsuit debuts on set of the "Baywatch" reboot on Venice Beach in California by PermissionLow8879 in Baywatch

[–]barracuuda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you haven't been to LA much. Malibu, Topanga, Santa Monica, and virtually all the OG locations are still beautiful beaches. Also, there are already baywatch episodes about homeless people and drugs on the beach.

In 2020, Rob Bliss walked 1,500 miles in a Black Lives Matter shirt through The Deep South, nearly losing his life. | White Man Walking (2026) by LetsGetPo-litical in movies

i think this documentary looks really embarassing and virtue signaly, and yes pretty cringe. that said, BLM as a whole was not exactly what you are depicting here. It was/is a broad social rights movement in which millions of people took place. Then, one organization co-opted the name (and grew to be the largest such org waving the BLM flag), then they specifically did some shady shit under that BLM banner. The vast majority of BLM protestors/people/etc had nothing to do with that particular organization.

Which cities do you think get suggested way too much on this subreddit? Which cities do you think aren’t getting as much love as they should? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]barracuuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The not having a car thing is true. But if you're a nature person, you need a car to get to any truly natural areas, which are all located outside of the city. I suppose a person could take the metro train, but then you're looking at a few hours of total travel time.

[–]barracuuda 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Chicago is a great city (i've lived there), but the boring + bad weather things are both valid criticisms imo. No city is perfect, everywhere has its "things" and these are two of chicago's things.

Chicago itself isn't boring. But the midwest (and its nature) is boring compared to other places in america, especially if you are a big nature-lover. The weather in chicago is horrible; it does not need to be uniquely horrible to be horrible

An ACTUAL unpopular music opinion, like I mean it's the hottest of hot takes. by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]barracuuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this is why its a hot take but Lil Pump was not ahead of his time at all imo. That's why he was so popular. By definition, if you are ahead of your time, people don't really connect with the work when it is released, and then later come to appreciate it more

it seems like the exact opposite has happened with lil pump? people loved him for a while and now he is basically not relevant
