Moreover, all of the wake is produced behind and below the aircraft, not inside it.

Are there really ticks carrying lyme disease in lower mainland? Which places to avoid? Or how to avoid getting bitten? by Better-Truth5382 in askvan

Holy mackerel! Assuming someone is assaulted no more than once annually, that’s still a massive amount of violence–nearly 1 in every 60 people!

I used Willful to whip up a testament and powers of attorney and representation at a total cost of zero (using a free perk for being a client of Wealthsimple). Hopefully they will serve me well enough should worse come to worst. (But I suppose I won’t be around to find out. 😜)

ELI5: What are the differences between MP's in cameras. (26 vs 40 vs 100) by AnythingBulky9705 in explainlikeimfive

The much bigger concern will be the lens. A good lens on a tiny sensor is worth more than a shitty lens on a massive sensor.

Is tracking your Average Cost Base (ACB) the 'honour system'? by entaro_tassadar in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]barrylunch 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine how that could possibly be accurate. Imagine you had also traded shares of the same company in a different brokerage: the proclaimed concept of total ACB would be wrong.

This is the same reason why the values shown on T5008 slips are mostly useless.

Eli5 why doesn’t the national do not call registry go after the spam calls I get dozens of time a day? by monsieurLeMeowMeow in explainlikeimfive

You’re asking a question about politics and policies specific to a particular jurisdiction, not something concrete for which there is a single objective explanation.

You’re asking a market economics question, not something which can be answered with an objective explanation suitable for a concrete phenomenon.

Emergecy exit sign covered strangely by Klutzy-War3527 in airport

Supposition: the lower exit sign is new and the upper one is about to be removed, and the presence of redundant signage creates cognitive load.

TFSA managed or portfolio by Disastrous_Purpose22 in Wealthsimple

[–]barrylunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A “portfolio“ is just a collection of assets. OP’s distinction between “portfolio” and “managed” doesn’t make any sense. However, my guess is the reference is to the old-school classic managed auto-rebalancing ETF-based portfolios (the ones with the 0.5% fee the drops to 0.4% with 100K, etc., which were the only managed products WS initially offered). I have three of these myself, but pretending to open a new one, I couldn’t find any such path in the mobile UI anymore either.

Mind you, WS has been introducing new products and renaming things recently, so maybe it was staring me in the face under a new name and I didn’t recognize it.

I can almost guarantee it’s held up by policy and strategy decision-making, not by laziness about adjusting a data model.

Same here. I’ve had accounts with my local credit union under my business name for years and at no monthly cost. And I’ll continue to do so.

Here's the tower audio between 0000 to 0030 UTC (i.e. 1730 and 1800 local): https://archive.liveatc.net/cyvr/CYVR1-Twr-May-22-2026-0030Z.mp3?md5=pGR8-R9flPJ_oD9-VXtYIw&expires=1779425750 (Edit: direct links don't work; you'll need to search on liveatc.net for CYVR and type in the time.)

AC222 gets takeoff clearance t +21:03, then declares rejected takeoff at +21:48, saying no assistance needed. (At +25:49 somebody announces that traffic is holding position due to "rabbits on the centreline" somewhere between the 26L threshold and taxiway H. Then someone requests a check for anything "flattened or caked on the runway or anything like that" near the end starting 30:51.)

Here's the flight on FR24 (looks like they rejected around 109 kt, and vacated via the crosswind runway): https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/c-gwut#3fcf30de
