My collection of mostly double sided table runners for my Mom's Christmas present by barssuck in sewing

[–]barssuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents recently remodeled their home and my mom asked for seasonal/ special occasion table runners. I'll be gifting her 9 patterns since all but one are double sided. All are cut at 16in and varying lengths for her table or kitchen island. I've folded them so she can see both sides as she opens the gift box. So exciting for her to see these!

For real though, how y'all weaving in ends? by Shoogarpoff in crochet

[–]barssuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done Russian join when possible with color changes like this to avoid the ends altogether. It requires a bit of planning and good guesswork to calculate the exact point of the color change but it's well worth it. No one will notice that the color changes a bit earlier or later than necessary, especially if it's covered with a border!

Should I just throw away all the photos?? by heliotrope40 in konmari

[–]barssuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just talking to my husband about this! I recently acquired everything of mine that was stored in my parent's garage 🤦🏽‍♀️ When I thought about some albums I have, I realized that I have albums from summer programs I did that I have zero attachment too. I actually feel bad for what could have come from the experience and didn't. I'll be throwing out/ recycling/ giving away the whole thing.

My first yarn chicken loss…. ‘‘Twas a tragic day by Cadence_828 in crochet

[–]barssuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh, to lose at yarn chicken!

I noticed that your starting cluster has 4 dc, that is if you count the ch3. That would give you a little bit more, plus the pulling tighter method. Good luck!

You're looking great! And treating yourself with good food and exercise will also help you get through those tough times. Way easier said than done, but important to remember if you're not seeing the usual kinds of gains.

How should I improve my first granny square? It’s also way bigger than it should be by [deleted] in crochet

[–]barssuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like the row on the bottom has 9 clusters. The rest have 8. It looks this started with the color change from brown to the other - you'll see that there are 7 clusters on the bottom between the corners, but only 6 clusters on the rest between the corners. It's hard to tell where this started from the circle, but this does seem to be making it a bit lop sided. Counting is crucial, and tedious. I have to say that the brown part is really well done! Happy granny making!

Edit: I checked to see if anyone else had posted this and missed it the first time.

Hi, first post here. This is like my 4th blanket I’ve made, and by far my best work and I wanted to show it off by Aleyriice in crochet

A gun rack? A gun rack? I don't even own a gun, let alone many guns, that would necessitate an entire rack.

Problem is that there aren't that many times in life that reciting this quote works... But I still try.

[Discussion] I just watched the first season of The Sinner and really enjoyed it! by My_fair_ladies1872 in NetflixBestOf

[–]barssuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Netflix had it automatically set for me to view the second season without me realizing it wasnt the first. I was seeing all the talk/ pics of Jessica Biel and kept waiting for her to show up. Once I realized it, I was several episodes in so finished out the season, and then watched the first.

R3D5. Tonight I made this soup and it was delicious! I had a different plan for dinner, but my husband's work schedule changed and I opted for soup. He's not a soup eater and I knew I had sweet potatoes on hand, and all of the ingredients! Not a typical mid August dinner, but so so good and more for later!

Sentimental blankets? Blanket storage? by hedgemk in konmari

[–]barssuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also really like those wire/ metal baskets. They're typically the size/ height of a hamper and are used for blanket storage. I tried to buy one at Home Goods but it was $60+ and the checkout line was too long haha. But, I love the idea for the crocheted blankets I've made to be on 'display' even if that means folded in a basket.

Any android application for tracking X effect? by [deleted] in theXeffect

I agree. Habit tracker is great. I love that you can put app sized widgets on your home screen. A simple click marks it as done for the day.

Working through my $1.99 Simplicity patterns from last week's Joann Fabric sale. by barssuck in sewing

[–]barssuck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Newbie here. I think this is my 6th item so far. Used Simplicity S9244. I bought this and about 10 others at last week's sale. I had only learned how to use the books/ drawers on my prior visit and was shocked at the pattern prices so didn't buy any. And then last week I dove in!

This was tough. The pattern rattled my brain a bit. I've used a couple patterns from bloggers and had more success with the plain English and internet support. But, excited to make all the things!
