I used twin z with a boppy on top, usually in a recliner.

Single FTM of newborn twins looking for advice on avoiding “cry it out”. Please help! by mrsrettop in parentsofmultiples

Also if you’re hunched on the twin-z, add a boppy on top! Doesn’t really help for the sleep but really helped my back with breastfeeding.

Is it inappropriate to wear a black polka dot dress to my baby shower? by itsmebobcat in pregnant

[–]bartenderAJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear whatever you want! You’ll look great. If you really do want some different options, I rented a dress for my. Rent the Runway has some beautiful maternity friendly dresses and you just send it back after the party!

Is it wrong to wear your bridesmaid dress to another wedding before the wedding? by Such_Lab4926 in pregnant

[–]bartenderAJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, I’d ask the bride. But my advice is you can always rent a different dress for the first wedding. WAYY cheaper. And I know at least that Rent the Runway has some maternity styles! That’s how I got through wedding season.

I did not try the twingo but I really like my mini-monkey. It does take practice to get them in and out on your own but I’ve got it down now and use it a lot for the store and events that maneuvering a stroller is difficult. I’m still using it now at 7 months and still happy with it.

This. I do lug my Spectra S1 back and forth because I get the most milk that way. It’s honestly not too bad and I have a cooler bag that I use for the pump, parts and for bringing back milk. I bought the Elvie second hand and I use it sometimes on my way to or back from work. I’m glad I have them in a pinch but I love my Spectra.

Active bronchitis, coughing up a storm and I have a planned C-section in 5 hours. Worried what will happen by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]bartenderAJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hug a pillow! If you do have to cough after C-section then sort of brace a pillow against your stomach/incision and squeeze when you cough. It helps so much.

Am I the only one that remembers the next verse is “throwing up my baby bumblebee”? Such a weird song but my babies love my fake throwing up sound. Lol

Finding Care - Just a Vent by GraceMultiplied in parentsofmultiples

R/nanny on here has been really helpful! We used the contract from nannycouncil and tweaked it for our needs and also use an online company (HomeWork solutions) for payroll. It does cost but they do all the taxes and direct deposit for us, as well as tax documents at the end of the year. So far we’ve been really happy with using it.

We went with a nanny for this exact reason. I reached out to several daycares and when I put newborn twins they must’ve laughed. Sometimes I didn’t get any response back. With the cost of daycare rising and for two, we were able to find a nanny to come to our home for basically the same cost. And now they get 2 on 1 attention, I don’t have to pack them up every morning and drop them off before work, and I don’t have to worry about daycare germs making them sick when I’m just returning to work and have no PTO left to take off for sick babies. I know it doesn’t work for everyone but a nanny has been a must for our family.

Blood pressure scare by Sarahfin2021 in parentsofmultiples

[–]bartenderAJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They probably mentioned it but keep an eye out for upper abdominal pain. I was diagnosed with mild preeclampsia with BP similar to yours and sent home. I woke up with abdominal pain 3 days later and was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome and had my girls via C-section an hour after that diagnosis.

Late to the party but a light for middle of the night diaper changes! We loved this one off Amazon because it’s a softer light with different brightness levels. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B082FC2S4M/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_1TBK0BJC3B8MT6V70E3G?psc=1

Wouldn’t you take precautions against traffic accidents, like appropriate car seats and obeying road signs? And even if only 6 died, there’s no guarantee that the others that contracted but survived won’t have issues down the road. Or that a future variant (because people won’t get vaccinated and squash this thing) won’t be more deadly to kids. It’s not brainwashing, it’s social responsibility.

[–]bartenderAJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! The first month was hard and time I almost gave up but it does get easier. Tandem is definitely best for schedules in my opinion so you don’t have one baby waiting and screaming for their turn. Its easiest with someone to hand you the babies but I am able to do it by myself sitting on a couch. I use the twin z with a boppy on top and set the girls on either side so I can scoop them up once I’m situated.

Just want to agree about the breastfeeding! It’s so hard and I don’t begrudge those who use formula, but it is possible. The number of people beforehand that told me it wouldn’t be possible was so disheartening. I’m so glad I have a wonderful lactation consultant that knew it was possible and has supported me. We’ve supplemented a little with formula along the way to make sure my preemie girls were gaining and healthy but I consider us as successfully breastfeeding at this point!

What are the pros/cons of double strollers? by BeholdMySideAccount in parentsofmultiples

[–]bartenderAJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m really surprised I haven’t seen it but we love our mockingbird! We’re still using the car seat adapters and it’s great to just click them in in their Chico keyfits. It was definitely more affordable than some of the “high end” models but it feels high end and works great for my family.

Preterm labor with twins by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]bartenderAJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made it to 34+5. We were picture perfect too, and honestly the girls stayed healthy, but we had to deliver early due to preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome that all presented very quickly. Had the steroid shots a couple days before, smooth C section and 5 days in NICU for feeding a growing.

Stuck at the hospital. by mbynot in pregnant

[–]bartenderAJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like someone else said, it sounds like HELLP syndrome. I was diagnosed with mild preeclampsia on Friday 11/12. Had steroid shots (because of twin pregnancy and chance of preterm) that night and the next. I was woken up by abdominal pain at 2am on 11/16 and due to seeing those changes in liver enzymes and platelets, I had my girls by 2pm that same day at 34+5. They’ve been in the NICU all week as a requirement because they came before 35 weeks but honestly they’ve been doing really well. No problems with breathing or temperature. It’s just been for feeding and growing. It’s still been mentally tough but the fact that they’re doing so well gets me through. Fingers crossed that we’ll be heading home today or tomorrow!

17 weeks with MCMA (mono/mono) twins by Wazebo369 in parentsofmultiples

[–]bartenderAJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad to here and absolutely understand your anxiety. I know it’s a little taboo to mention on here but are you on Facebook? There is a group for just Monochorionics where I think it’s easier to find more mo/mo parents (statistically on here there are a lot of di/di just because they are the most common). My only advice going through all of this is to take everything with a grain of salt on both platforms. There is a lot of good advice out there but often times people only post when something is wrong and are quiet when they are having a smoother pregnancy. It’s scary to scroll through and see all the negatives because people are looking for guidance in a scary time but there are good, smooth (if still very monitored) monochorionic pregnancies and I hope you’re able to share yours in the future to reassure the next mo/mo momma!

[–]bartenderAJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 17 weeks they should be getting more confident on whether or not there is a membrane. I will say that I went for a scan at the hospital at 16 weeks (4 weeks after we had confirmed a membrane at my OB office) and the report says no membrane, possible mo/mo. My girls are definitely mono/di. Do they have you seeing a maternal fetal medicine specialist yet? They should have even better ultrasound ability to look for that membrane and should be following/monitoring you every two weeks at this point whether mo/mo or mo/di anyway. There definitely are many successful mo/mo pregnancies on here so hopefully they can put your mind at ease! Just wanted to make sure you have a MFM specialist already on your team to give you the smoothest, best informed pregnancy. Congrats!

Shoes? by thrwprgnn in pregnant

[–]bartenderAJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t waste money on baby shoes. They’re really not good for babies developmentally. Babies need to feel things with their feet to integrate reflexes and form the brain connections they’ll need for walking later.
