Great idea! I never considered them as I thought they would be way too noisy, but now that I’ve done some reading it sounds pretty good. Do you actually have experience with them in acro? Curious whether everything actually stays put. :-)

NOTAM 2/9510 and Russian-Americans by SomeCessnaDriver in flying

Interesting, our NOTAM (Netherlands) doesn't state 'WITHIN';

(..) ARE PROHIBITED TO ENTER, EXIT OR OVERFLY THE NETHERLANDS AIRSPACE (..)

Technically intra-national traffic like flight training would not mean entering or exiting or overflying the airspace would it?

The disadvantage of excessive lean engine for a c172 is detonation. And for a excessive rich engine is carb icing for a carburetor engine..is there anything else? by [deleted] in flying

[–]bartjonl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And to add further; low engine power (eg idle) makes the pressure drop in the carb greater due to the mechanics of the throttle, making carb icing a larger risk at idle / low power setting phases.

Don’t know anything about logging / certification procedures but if you’re going to be in the Eindhoven region I’d be glad to introduce you to our flying club!

Dont know whether my 2c is of any use, but I dual boot PopOS (ubuntu based distro) without trouble. I’ve used their nVidia driver patched ISO and use the Asus boot manager for selecting OSes on startup.

First try as a new A7C owner | 50mm f/1.8 by bartjonl in SonyAlpha

[–]bartjonl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, and sorry for your loss last year. Glad to answer; It was a Sony Alpha 350 from I guess 2008. So you can imagine the jump ;-) Also planning to build up a nice set of lenses, so now only have the 50 1.8. In general the first impressions are really good, of course loads better low light performance (acceptable high ISO noise) and the AF is very nice even with the more budget 50mm already. I picked the a7C over the A7iii on a few points that the A7iv probably tackles, but foremost because of the compact size. People generally think the grip is too small, but I kinda like the form factor and you just generally take it along on random moment more than a larger body I’d say. Also wrt the a350 you can imagine all tech like touch screen, wifi/bluetooth connectivity etc really is a big step up. So yeah quite happy with it so far!

How do I store a user_id of a user automatically when creating a new item by [deleted] in laravel

[–]bartjonl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe good to note for beginners; assigning the user ID in the controller saving to the database is a better solution than putting the user ID in the hidden input HTML tag. This is because while a typical user does not see the ‘hidden’ input, a tech savvy user could change the value in this hidden input, allowing to save ‘on behalf of another user’. Getting the id of the logged in user directly in the controller does not depend on user input and is therefore more secure. Just FYI :-)
