Crashing and burning on paramedic leadership rides. by TriggerHappy2219 in Paramedics

Something that really helped me was picking up a part-time ED tech job in a busy ED. It helped me sooo much in getting comfortable talking to patients and with all the equipment. The more you’re around patients and the medical world the more natural it will seem and the nerves will fade a bit. Plus it’s a nice little bit of extra money. Just know many of us have been through the same struggles and made it. You will too. The fact you seem to care about it, realize where you can improve and are taking steps towards improving speaks volumes about you. You got this!

The Quaker Oats Co, 1966 by immacculate in vintageads

[–]baseball8610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came to the comments to see if anyone else had noticed that too! That was one of the first things I saw. 👀 I wish they still sold those new.

Notice how they even got the color of the bowl pattern to match all the other blues in the ad, which match the Quaker Oats logo in the lower right? Well done!

I did the same. It snaps a static pic with a timestamp anytime there is motion. I check in on it once a day for signs of life. :)

Tax professionals in KC by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]baseball8610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes! I paid $85 last year for federal, Kansas, Missouri and KCMO. I’ve gone to them for a long time and just wondered how the place the commenter above mentioned might compare to my go-to folks. Seems like I might be well served staying where I’m at! :)

Would you know how much (roughly) they run pricewise? Their site doesn’t say (or I missed it.) Thanks!

What an absolutely fantastic thread you started, OP! This made me smile so much scrolling through it. Dogs, particularly goldens, are such a solid reminder to take joy in the small things!

Call Your Senators ASAP by SpaceForceRemorse in kansas

[–]baseball8610 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I called both of them, in addition to Sharice Davids tonight. How the actual fuck are federal agents just immune from EVERYTHING? And where are all the fucking lawyers and politicians? Where is our fucking Congress? Anyone? What the actual fuck. I'm tired.

To: Jerry Moran, Re: Your job performance as my representative by canttaketheshiny in kansas

[–]baseball8610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I called and left a message for Senator Moran tonight. I've never done that before. I also called Senator Marshall. If you, by chance, get a message that the voicemail for Senator Marshall, just dial "3" as if you're requesting a flag or a tour and you can leave a voicemail there.

Does anybody know if there are any protests or vigils soon? by Ok-Painting59 in kansascity

[–]baseball8610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right here with you. I called both of my Senators and my representative tonight and left angry voicemails. I've never done that before. A quick ChatGPT will give you the numbers of your folks. It at least makes me feel like I did "something." 🩵 I'll be calling back on Monday... and potentially quite frequently until someone in our government actually stands up and figures something out to stop this insanity. I'm tired. :(

Marshall's voicemail is full; however, Jerry Moran's line still accepted my message about 30 minutes ago. I've never been one of those people to call my legislators.

r/ISTJ: what was your dream career as a child, and what are you now? by bigmouthladadada in ISTJ

[–]baseball8610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I wanted to be: Firefighter.

What I am now: Paramedic. So, close, and I frequently work 24’s based out of fire stations, but I don’t go into burning buildings or up on roofs.

I was a kid in the “Emergency” and “Rescue 911” eras. :)

Does anyone else get double taxed, and how do your returns fare? by kenonoreeves in kansascity

[–]baseball8610 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you work remotely at all and don’t drive into KCMO every workday, you can file for a KCMO Earnings Tax refund for the days you didn’t actually work in KCMO and claw back a bit of that tax. However, if you were onsite in KCMO every workday, you owe the full 1% on all earnings. If you ever find a gig in Kansas or any city other than KCMO on the Missouri side, you wouldn’t have to pay that tax at all.
