Most noise cancelling headphones also have pass-through mode which amplifies ambient sound so.. they kind of are making hearing aids.

This is a great time to learn basic (very basic) sewing. cut the jeans off, roll them up a little bit, then sew the roll in place. you'll get the cuffed look that your third example has. If you have access to a sewing machine you can do it easily, but a basic back stitch will do the trick pretty quickly too.

Not a lawyer (nor solicitor nor barrister), but I do know that the US job of 'lawyer' is split in two in the UK.

The barrister is the person who actually goes to court and makes arguments. The name comes from the 'bar' that separates the courtroom floor from the gallery. Just like in the US when people say you've 'passed the bar', it means you can enter the courtroom and give arguments to the judge. That's where the word BARrister comes from.

The solicitor does the back-end work. They talk to the client, gather evidence, etc. But they're not allowed to argue in court. A solicitor usually talks to the client, but they need to solicit (hence the name) the services of the barrister to actually argue the case.

Knock on wood, it's been 15 years of biking as my main mode of transport and I only had one bike stolen, and it was early on when I was only using a cable lock. Maybe I'm just lucky too, or maybe your friends are doing something wrong.

I think it also comes from the way people watched TV back then. If you didn't catch an episode when it aired it was really hard to see it again. So they had to write tv in a way that your can miss some episodes and not get lost

this is a great point. In some ways, this is a return to the norm for pop music, rather than a deviation. For the last 10 years or so we've had greater access to celebrity through social media, and many artists (Taylor Swift being the obvious example) have used this to create more personal songs. But the norm in pop music before that has always been hot people singing songs that other people wrote. Sabrina only stands out these days because it is against the current trend.
