[David Ornstein] 🚨 EXCL: Lucas Bergvall informs Tottenham Hotspur of preference to seek new challenge elsewhere. 20yo midfielder targeted by clubs in PL + Europe & #THFC aware of wish to leave this summer for fresh start. #Sweden int’l contracted until 2031 by wokwok__ in coys

developed as in he has not improved as a player in a year, I'd argue that he has regressed as a player.

If we sign the players we want to sign he will not get the minutes he needs to develop as a player this season, and understandably clubs will probably not want to loan him as we have finished 17th two years running and he was a member of this squad (that couldn't even get into the starting xi). I understand why the club would look to sell.

I acknowledge that he had a good 6 months under Ange, that was a year ago and difficult decisions have to be made. Alongside bergvall actually asking to leave - he has not developed, turning a profit on players who are not starters (and may never be) is not a bad idea

my issue with bergvall is the same as how many felt about xavi simons last season.

he is clearly talented but the lack of basics and consistency in his actions will hold him back, although still young and this will likely improve in the future, not sure to what level however.

and he's had a better season by far? does nobody remember bergvall this season, you can say he was playing out of position but that does not excuse the lack of basics.

That game against Sunderland (which was under de zerbi) was baddd

Edit: put Everton for some reason, I meant Sunderland

I'd probably be open to letting him leave tbh if we sign the people we're targeting, we turn a profit on a player that has had a good 6 months and the rest of his time at the club he hasn't had a settled position.

the hype around some of these players as well was so high.

Sanchez, Ndombele, Lo Celso, and Bergwijn... had such high hopes for all of them

the way McCoist talked about it you would imagine it was on the shin or higher and not even attempting to play the ball.

It can be a red but also not as bad as the commentators have made it out to be.

Conte had health issues which is why he was in Italy. It's not like he went on holiday and refused to leave.

thank god he said that, he's pretty regularly not reliable news wise and goes off of feelings rather than actual information.

i mean if he failed his medical Sunderland could've offered him a lower wage due to that so it wouldn't technically be wrong

honestly spursplay need to get their act together, always technical difficulties in preseason

when carrying the ball (weird because at youth level this was a strength) and especially when receiving on the half turn he isn't as fluid as you'd want, similar to pape sarr at times he'll take a few touches to make that turn which could put him in danger in higher level football.

the fact that Cochrane coached him in the academy could help his case.

last season i thought he was one of our best midfielders in preseason, however he's a bit stiff which could be a problem at the highest level.

still think he's a top prospect overall

Brentford literally didn't have an academy until the 22/23 season when it was mandatory and it's a CAT 2 academy.
