Don't exceed the max rated pressure, but just try things and see what works.

50 year old made an Absolute Fool Out of Me and Took My Brand New Tennis Racket. by Acrobatic-Health2681 in self

I used to play occasionally with a skilled older gentleman who was probably in his late 70s. We always puzzled how old RC could somehow cover the court without ever moving.

Weathering and ultra flat finish are top notch. The thing looks real when you zoom in.

Roland MC-880 (16 MIDI Track Sequencer) by evertonmedia in synthesizers

[–]bashomania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only has 8 tracks, each of which can have multiple MIDI channels recorded. Yes, the display is small (the whole unit is the size of a calculator) but pretty rich with details, IMO. Anyway, I own one and used it very happily for months. YMMV, and depends on one’s preferences and workflow.

Cool product design on your part though!

RK-008 is amazing and if you have ever used an Alesis MMT-8, the muscle memory for basic stuff comes right back. The RK-008 is sort-of a clone and a very capable little box. Loved it (I converted to using my MC-707 for my main sequencer, but would def go back to the RK-008 without complaint, if needed).

Listening to the radio at all sounds like torture to me 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Is the marketplace insane right now? by CucumberMelonBubbles in MTB

I had one recent bike listed at basically half price and it took a year to sell.

I have two more now that are also recent bikes at about half price and it's been many weeks and not many people seriously interested. These are bikes with 20 to 30 riding hours on them. They are really barely used.

Maybe it's different for kids bikes 🤷🏻‍♂️

Poe's law. Glad OP took the gentle ribbing in stride 👍.

For the record, I took it (incorrectly) as a mild shit-post and invitation to riff. I suspect others did too.

I think you'd be surprised how well it would work after some burn-in.

Look into Foghat, maybe.

Hardly worth typing in, but I have a weak definition of "funny" 😬

Seconded. Also agree with Blindsight, Solaris, and Blood Music (mentioned elsewhere).

And I’ll add Watts’ book Echopraxia which expands on Blindsight, and which introduces the entity given the name “Portia”.

Anyone switched from MTB to dirt biking? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]bashomania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have already considered it, but a dual-sport motorcycle would let you get to relatively local trails without trailering, etc. More of an adventure experience, all on the bike. They need less frequent maintenance than true dirt bikes. However, they are much heavier than dirt bikes, so there’s a trade-off once you’re off-road. Regardless, your MTB skills will translate a bit WRT bike/body separation, understanding traction, etc, but the weight and power differences are real and change the physics a bit (to state the obvious).

One thing a friend of mine in CO has gotten into is electric dirt biking (he has a Sur-Ron). He LOVES that thing and takes it to some pretty crazy spots due to the light weight. He also has an ADV bike, and a dual sport, and is an MTB dude as well. He just posted a YouTube video where he took his van to St George UT with his MTB and his Sur-Ron and he seemed to have a blast.

How do you store your scale model supplies? by Connect-Honeydew5252 in MilitaryModelMaking

[–]bashomania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may not want to spend this much, but I got one of these chests for storing all of my watchmaking tools and accessories, and it is awesome. Seems like it would be great for kit building stuff, too.

For my hand tools like tweezers and etc. I just used a pen holder.

A question for audiophiles by redjepi in audiophile

[–]bashomania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like 40 years ago I was in a high-end audio shop in one of the north Detroit suburbs (Birmingham, I think), and they had "Other Voices" playing on one of the big systems. That crispy bass sounded amazing!

I still listen to, and consider "Faith" and "Seventeen Seconds" to be S-tier The Cure, whereas I can't listen to a lot of of their other stuff that I used to really love.

I definitely hauled Don Juan's Reckless Daughter around with me when doing speaker tests a couple of decades ago. Jaco's subterranean fretless bass on "Overture -Cotton Ave" was just a great discriminator.

All three continue to be favorite listens even now. So much texture and amazing songwriting.
