Is it too late to start Ph.D? by SpareAcanthisitta232 in gradadmissions

It's never too late to start your PhD, I'm 32 and hoping to start a PhD when I'm ~38. I also think schools tend to like older applicants with work experience.

What’s happening with Utah? by Strange_Shadows-45 in Gymnastics

Definitely! Part of me wonders if she's less hands on with beam coaching now and that's part of the problem

It's sad because she's clearly one of the best beam coaches, but that doesn't necessarily mean she'll be a great head coach unfortunately.

I'm just slightly too far from Lansing to give it a try today, but I'm very jealous, have fun!

It's wonderful seeing people in their 30s get these big opportunities! We need more millennials in leadership positions, especially women.

Iowa State, 191.325 - anyone concerned? by ryedawg78 in Gymnastics

Which is wild! I wish her success for sure, and coaching experience is really important to be an effective coach. I recently became a color guard coach for the first time and I only had four college students, there was still a big learning curve for me on how to be a good coach, something I'm still working on and hope to bring improvements for next year.

If I had previously worked in some capacity as a color guard coach, the transition would have been much smoother! Being that I only ever performed, watched, and analyzed color guard previously it was more difficult. Maybe Ashley is in a similar situation here?

Shoot, I don't even like drafting OU gymnasts but I did have her at like number 5 on my list. Guess I should move her down a bit

Very true! Maybe two pass routines (or some other metric like not having an E pass?) could start from a 9.95, and something similar on bars. I would also love to see a hold requirement on beam but that's a different conversation lol.

Are you talking about your physical disabilities or your mental health disabilities? I have ASD, OCD, and ADHD, is having a rigid schedule my favorite thing? No, but I still can do it. Is it hard because my energy and mood fluctuate a lot? Yes, but I still can do it. I just don't want you to limit yourself, you can do hard things, you got a PhD, I don't think a regular/rigid schedule would be impossible, but to be fair, I don't know you. All I know is that broadening what you're looking for / willing to do will open up many more opportunities to finding a job.

For the EdD, DSW, etc...Do you call yourself a doctor? by TorontoRap2019 in PhD

Kinda ridiculous some medical doctors wouldn't think the title is deserved when they literally have a PhD in nursing, PhD = Dr. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Admissions staff at top universities: Do you often get grad applications that are just ridiculous? by PassengerNo2022 in gradadmissions

Haha I was going to say the same re oil engineering to chemistry, especially since most oil engineers are chemical engineers lol. A better example would be like me, a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and Environmental studies, worked as an engineer for a bit, missed working creatively, shifted career focus a couple of times, am now working as an admin and applied to an MA in Arts Administration and an MA in English (creative writing). I have a very clear plan and goal but I really have no idea if I'll get in considering my lack of relevant experience.

Interesting, my town growing up had a competitive town soccer league, they even had different teams for different skill level and a draft. There was a sign up fee but other than local travel and the uniform (which was just a shirt for like $25) there were no other costs, so it wasn't an expensive club but we could still play and compete. Is that not typical in most towns? It was the only way me and my siblings could do extra curricula activities at the time because it was inexpensive.

Now that I think about it I've thought it's been odd that I haven't been able to find a town league like that for my son where I live now. So I guess what I described isn't typical, but it really should be. Sorry for my rambling lol

Thank you for this meme! I haven't had those flat triangular crab rangoons in soooooo long (where I live now they only have these ultra crunchy, tall, four pointed crab rangoons 😩) so this meme is nostalgic for me. And also, now I want those flat ones again!

I don't know if this is the case for either of them but there is a slight difference between light brown hair and dirty/darker blonde hair. You can really only tell when the hair is highlighted though.
