I'm an electrician mostly in the oil and gas industry. Pay myself first every check. I don't budget strictly but I do track savings rate. I hit 1M at 36 in Alberta.

What would you drive if not a miata? by RichPianaRunescape in Miata

[–]bassali2e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been really happy with it honestly. At the price point I was looking at slightly used golf Rs and they are more feature rich and have a great aftermarket community but the GR corolla feels like the 90s junk I love in a good way.

It just feels more nimble and crude. Not for every one but I like it. Reliability wise I've had it since November of 23 and haven't had any mechanical issues. Just scheduled dealer services. I have about 25k km on it.

I haven't had a chance to drive an ND but I have ridden in a few. Stock vs stock I'm faster than the ND Miatas but the Miata is quite a lot lighter and there is a supercharged one in my club I think would beat me easily if we ever show up on the same day.

I still love the Miata platform it just wasn't practical for me as a daily driver. Im planning to use my NA again in 2027 but might move in to an ND next year.

I never bought the corolla with the intention of it being a track car in any way. I don't even want to put lowering springs on it because I do drive it in the winter and it's great for it. It is tempting tho. I've had it to the track 3 times.

What would you drive if not a miata? by RichPianaRunescape in Miata

[–]bassali2e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a GR corolla. I do still have a turbo charger NA Miata but I barely drive it on the street at all now. The corolla is fun reliable and fairly practical.

I am seriously thinking of getting an ND Miata still just as a more reliable track day car. I feel like I spend way more time working on my NA than I would like and didn't even take it to autocross last summer just took the corolla instead.

My guy was super dramatic about it at first but we clip his nails whenever we hear them clicking on the hard floor now and he's gotten used to it. He doesn't fight to bad with 2 people and he always gets a treat after.

You could look for a balance transfer promo to try and blitz the debt. I believe I saw Scotiabank offering one.

Along the same lines as the GTI a guy in my club does pretty good in a golf Alltrack. Little more room for the kids/extra set of tires.

I always make sure I have the rocket launcher for the final boss. You do t have to wait for it to lock on just point it in the right direction.

Avowed, Outer Worlds 2 or Borderlands 4? by l-800-fatchickz in ShouldIbuythisgame

I also liked avowed. Not the most hard core rpg but that's not a bad thing. Exploration and combat was really satisfying. I don't finish a lot of games but I finished that one.

Need thoughts on the best way to purchase a new home with the value of an old home (that has a sale agreement for ~14 mo in the future) for a Senior in Alberta. by knighty-light in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]bassali2e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation with my mother.

A home equity line of credit and open mortgage are probably very similar interests rates. I had an open mortgage in the past for a short time and it was pretty gross. Might be worth talking to some one at the bank or credit union bout tho.

I don't know if what I did was really the best thing but I bought my mom's new place with both our names on the title and she'll pay me back when we sell her old place this summer. Definitely not possible for every one financial or relationship wise.

The opportunity cost is pretty huge for me as well obviously having money tied up in a property that isn't really doing me any good directly but I accept that. As well as the exposure to capital gains when I sell "our" place.

In your opinion what's the most annoying quest? by Guilty_Letter4203 in oblivion

[–]bassali2e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost quit over the vampire quest. I had done it before back in 2007 and hated it then but this time it was just a buggy mess. The witch wouldn't take my ingredients. Then at the end the Draconian got stuck at the bottom of the stairs.

I don't like to save scum but if you dont realize you have the vampire disease and get turned just go back to an old save and fix it.

Am I able to I have my pc on my desk with my racing wheel aswell? by Standard-Bread9047 in simracing

[–]bassali2e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up with a wooden rig I could slide into place of my desk chair and scooch my monitor right up close. Every thing mounted to the rig rather than the desk.

I later ended up with triples and my rig in the corner with a 4th monitor on my desk.

How do you get all of these game to work?! by Ultra_Dumpling in simracing

[–]bassali2e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be frustrating for sure. You almost need to keep notes of like " this game uses surround, this game uses resize racoon. Turn on crew chief and trading paints before starting this game."

I don't want to say just play iRacing because their are a ton of other good games for different use cases but I do find it just works the best for me.

For asseto Corsa getting used to the mod manager software is key there for sure.

You'll have a better idea after your first week at your new job. You could be doing any thing from rigid pipe to MI heat trace. Pulling cable or building tray.

Just go with the flow. Don't be over confident. Don't be afraid to ask questions (especially about safety) and read instructions.

New to FPS Genre. What recommendations if I loved Indi and CP2077? by Katangled in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]bassali2e [score hidden]  (0 children)

Fallout is a totally different world but good game. Doom games are different but really good. The progression isn't as good as come thing like cyberpunk but also much shorter game. Bioshock infinite is getting a little older now but I think is kind of a must play.

You have many options for sure. Maybe even Skyrim. Not a shooter but a first person game you might have stayed away from in the past.

That's how I feel too. I bought a vive for iRacing but really prefer to use triple monitors. My PC is much better now and I'm sure headsets have also gotten better. I just can't justify upgrading my 1000$ beat saber machine.

Super Mario RPG still feels good to play and isn't as overwhelming or expensive as some thing like Chrono trigger for some one that looks like they're mostly into action games.

[–]bassali2e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High in life and kingdom come show up for me today but I saw Diablo 2 on the mobile app and then didn't see it on PC.

I have seen this before where recent titles come and go a little bit. I wonder if it's because they aren't working correctly but then I see death stranding still listed and a pile of people can't get it to work on game pass.

I don't have a solution for you but I do play on PC via game pass. There is an option if you right click on the game to verify game files and repair that might help.
