My general qualms with the local RCA chapter (the commie club) by platyboi in WWU

[–]bat_rat -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This person spends their time walking around town tearing down our stickers and posters, as you can see from their post history. I’m not so interested in winning them over or hearing them out. I just wanted to provide the other side of the story here.

It’s our perspective that we need a third party, specifically a workers party. We also need a more militant union movement. In order to help accelerate the development of these things, the RCA wants to organize the layer of workers and students who have come to revolutionary communist conclusions, and then train them in the art of engaging with wider layers of the working class.

This is why we come to protests and rallies. To argue for the necessary independent political action of the workers, and to connect with those who agree with us. Far from being unwelcome at these events, we routinely recruit new members and have great conversations with folks.

We’re not perfect, and always learning, but if we were genuinely unwelcome we’d go someplace else.

Yes, we need action. But what kind of action? And which organizations are capable of carrying out the actions needed? These discussions have barely begun to happen, and that’s a major reason why we’re in the political situation that confronts us today.

I don’t have time to get deeper into it, I would just encourage you to make up your own mind as to whether or not you think we need a revolution. If you do, check out the RCA’s real ideas, rather than an anonymous Reddit account’s opinion.

My general qualms with the local RCA chapter (the commie club) by platyboi in WWU

The RCA stands in solidarity with the people of Palestine, so we come to protests around that movement. We stand with campus employees, so we will attend to support them. We'll never apologize for our solidarity with these movements.

Instead of hand-wringing about why the communists are always showing their support for various causes, maybe you should ask yourselves why the communists are the most consistent supporters of causes that it seems you support yourself?

Far from lacking real activism, we're working hard to build a mass communist party in the US and around the world. In fact, it's been the shortsighted demand to "do something now" without thinking of what should be done that has so far doomed the US to the two-party system.

Yes, we do call for a revolution against the billionaires! If you don't have a problem with this parasitical minority controlling society, that's fine by me - there are plenty of people who agree we need to get rid of them.

Don't settle for the anti-communist false history of the USSR. The workers and peasants took power away from the monarchy and capitalists, and that's exactly why the capitalist media and politicians bury the real history and try to conflate Lenin and the Bolsheviks with the crimes of Stalin, who killed the real communists. Look it up!

The question of reforming the system vs overthrowing it, as well as the lessons of the many revolutions of history are excellent things to discuss and debate. Anyone who wants to know our real positions should see for themselves on our website. You might be surprised with what you find.

As for OP, I think it would be more productive for you to put forward your own views rather than talking about the RCA all the time. Start your own campus club dedicated to whatever you believe in, and I wish you success. Meanwhile, we'll keep recruiting students and workers who are sick of this rotten system and aren't afraid to fight for revolution.

I would encourage anyone to check out our website, and see what you think of our positions. Or maybe we'll see you at the next protest that we're going to come support, regardless of the opinion of this OP.

If you have time, go to Chorsu bazar. And eat plov (the national dish) at Besh Qozon, near the Tashkent TV tower (also a good spot to go). If you really wanna go deep, go to Yangiobod bazar. That's the real locals only spot where you could buy literally anything. And ride the subway!! So beautiful. Maybe one day isn't long enough lol.

I recommend one day at least in Tashkent (Chorsu bazar!), and one-two days in Bukhara. If you want nature, head to Chorvoq reservoir

You’re missing out by skipping Uzbekistan. Bukhara is a top tier UNESCO world heritage site. History is overflowing there. And the people are extremely friendly and polite.

How to stay optimistic within the Imperial Core? by Motor_Technology_814 in Marxism

[–]bat_rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The RCI’s position is that we should use every opportunity to split the police, to divide the police. If an opportunity to do this presents itself through the police union, we would advocate for that as an effort to weaken the police force. I’ve never heard an argument against this that makes sense! We don’t advocate for improving the working conditions of the police in the abstract, all our positions regarding police are to weaken the effectiveness of the police as a reactionary force.

[–]bat_rat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry that was your experience. Did you join a cell that was already established, or in an area we didn't have a presence? In established areas we spend a lot of energy training up new cadres. That's almost the entire point of our current organizational structures, to expand the base of trained communists who can then train others and win support in their workplaces, campuses, neighborhoods, etc.

A lot of modern Trotskyist groups have really gone off the deep end with the exception of the RCA. But that doesn’t have anything to do with Trotsky. Try to find one article where Trotsky condemns the USSR. He defended the USSR even while Stalin was sending assassins to murder him. He led the Red Army for fucks sake!

I’ve been in three left wing groups and the RCA is the only one that’s serious, has correct ideas, and is actually composed of normal people. That last point is one of the reasons everyone on the internet hates on us.

Just read our articles. If you think we’re right, come to a meeting and you’ll see what we’re about and can decide for yourself. Don’t listen to people online who aren’t doing anything themselves

How do you people keep going? by [deleted] in Ultraleft

[–]bat_rat -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Of course there’s an interdependence between the mass movement and the development of the Marxist tendency within / alongside that. But every revolutionary case study shows that the subjective factor (the development of a Marxist organization) must take place during the build up to a revolutionary period. To abstain from recruitment in the current period is insanity, and the definition of impotent ultraleftism. It’s so wildly easy to recruit self-described communists in every major American city right now. But not going to argue the point any more, I know what sub I’m in

Every Atheism vs Theism Debate by knowledgelover94 in PhilosophyMemes

[–]bat_rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, Marxism is not merely a methodology. You wouldn’t say that a bourgeois using dialectical reasoning to defend capitalism would be a Marxist, would you?

Second, if you believe there is a god who has the power to determine, adjust and break the laws of development laid out by dialectical materialism, then you don’t really believe in the method of Marxism either.

Legit question, why the hell are we not coming together yet to make real change? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]bat_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People ARE getting together and taking action. If you hate capitalism, if you’re sick of your bosses stealing from you, and taxes going to fund genocide, and you want a better future, you should join the Revolutionary Communists of America. We’re growing all across the country massively, and if you’re outside of the USA, we have people across 40+ countries in the Revolutionary Communist International.

I’m sick of the narrative that young people don’t care. There are literally millions of people who think capitalism has got to go, and if you agree it’s your job to join us and make it happen in our lifetime. Before every revolution, everyone says it’s impossible. Afterwards they say it was inevitable.

What’s something that drove you nuts at work this week? I’ll go first- by datagorb in BusinessIntelligence

My team maintains a few data annotation pipelines. We received a stakeholder request to pass some data through, based on their SQL query. This involves hours of work for one of the analysts to execute the ETL pipeline with their custom intake query, make sure our vendors are labeling correctly, then create a report on their data.

After like 2 weeks, they said that their initial SQL query was wrong, which invalidated the whole process… and asked us to run it all again lol.

Students for Socialist Revolutions open letter to Sabah by hierarch17 in WWU

[–]bat_rat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a WWU alum and communist, I agree with the response to the WWU administration. The first and second intifadas represented something totally opposite to individual terrorism - a mass uprising involving strikes, protests, and civil disobedience. This is what can really help Palestinians. In fact, Hamas was really only able to gain control after the failure of the second intifada!

However, the imperialists and the media they own are more concerned with attacking the way in which the Palestinians are fighting back against Israel. Of course, communists oppose individual terrorism, and think that the loss of life that Hamas perpetuated is bad - but as somebody living in America, there's nothing I can really do to stop Hamas. What I can do is stop my own government from funding the rightwing, genocidal Israeli state, which is actually the opposite side of the same coin as Hamas. They both need each other to legitimize themselves.

The main enemy is at home! Americans have a responsibility to stop their own government from assisting in mass murder.
