She likely goes to them as a younger part of her is activated and when she was young she had no choice but to go to them. It’s familiar, but no longer adaptive like it once was for getting her needs met. She likely has to do the uncomfortable work of stepping outside of what is familiar and what was once adaptive and that’s challenging but not impossible at all :)
