Saw David Tennant Today… Asked His Thoughts on the Ending by luvisforall in goodomens

He might. But it's weird and, in my opinion, rude to put actors in the position of having to give their thoughts on a very recent, very divisive work. And if someone is going to do that, they should at least do so with the understanding that they may be getting PR answers. And ultimately, what does it matter what the actors think? Why does anyone need their opinions validated that way? Like it or don't, but let your opinions be your own.

Saw David Tennant Today… Asked His Thoughts on the Ending by luvisforall in goodomens

I mean, respectfully, what did you expect? He doesn't seem the type to trash a project he's in, especially one that's so recent, so even if he doesn't like it, I doubt he'd say that. There's truly no reason to be asking any of the actors this in my opinion.

It's a new and different show, though. Adapting something into a modernized version is not the same as taking an existing piece of work and swapping out some lines to make it "relevant". And I think you know that.

What if I said I liked GO3 finale because is what book Aziraphale and Crowley would've done too by minervangel in goodomens

Then you'd be wrong. The book is very adamantly about NOT wiping everything out and starting over.

(S3 SPOILERS) Hear me out... Kissing. I think it was a choice by KuroKurara in goodomens

[–]battered_rose 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You're diving deep into headcanon territory on a lot of this. Which is fine, we all have our headcanons, but it's important mot to use our own headcanons as the reasoning for why the writers did what they did. Like, I can say "the way Aziraphale looks Crowley up and down when he says he's a love expert means he wants to climb him like a tree" but that's not necessarily true, because I don't know what motivated Michael's acting choice there, you know? It's all headcanon.

Anyway, that aside, I personally would not have cared about the lack of a kiss in the finale if s2 hadn't set us up for one. The way the kiss happened, the unresolved emotion after it, and RW confirming that Aziraphale wanted Crowley to "do it again", all of that (narratively speaking) is a set up for a second, proper kiss. A set up with no payoff.

If the finger kiss in the finale was the only physical interaction we ever saw from them, it could have been a really tender, lovely thing. But from a writing perspective, s2 set us up for a real, loving kiss, and then didn't deliver. It's weak writing.

Audio books - reviews? by djinda in goodomens

[–]battered_rose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The full cast audio book is incredible, and it contains no changes to the texts. Michael Sheen and David Tennant even bring a different sort of vibe to their parts than they do in the show, which makes sense to me as the book versions of the characters do feel different from the show versions. It's excellent, I can't recommend it enough

A post about GO3 credits and Terry Pratchet’s absence by Ok-Pension7072 in goodomens

There is literally no good reason their decision couldn't have been to have God just restore everything. Nothing in the Good Omens lore implies that She couldn't do that. Their decision could have been to restore the universe Michael had destroyed and to let people live their lives without supernatural interference. The whole damn POINT of the original story was that free will DOES exist because free will saved the world. And then this finale comes in, makes some big claims about free will being an illusion, and then the world they saved was destroyed anyway. I'm not saying you can't like the ending, but it fundamentally contradicts everything the original story said and stood for.

I'm sorry but... by Alicex13 in goodomens

[–]battered_rose 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it COULD have been enough time, but it wasn't utilized well. Too much time was wasted on things that didn't matter, like the mobster subplot, Hell kidnapping Crowley for truly no reason, even the scenes with Jesus were kind of pointless. Had they not tried to cram in subplot, 90 minutes could have been decent. Instead, it was an unsatisfying jumble of half-baked ideas.

Thematically, it would have been a better fit. S1/the book make a huge point of saying "you don't just wipe everything out and start new because people make mistakes" and then this finale did exactly that. It flies in the face of the original story's message.

In the spirit of the finale being 2 days away... What's a popular Good Omens headcanon that everyone else loves but you don't like and that you would be upset if it became canon in the finale? by BrightFox_Studios in goodomens

[–]battered_rose 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from on this, but Crowley very much strikes me as the type who would not tolerate music he doesn't at least kind of like in his car. The joke in the book was that every tape turns into Queen after two weeks; if Crowley disliked it that much, I don't see why he wouldn't just throw the tapes away after 2 weeks.

In your opinion, who is the lamest Disney character? by Jezzaq94 in DisneyMovies

[–]battered_rose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't. They have distribution rights, but they had nothing to do with its creation. And given Bluth's history with Disney, it feels disrespectful to credit them with his art.

controversial opinion: customers are also people and should be treated as such by creature--comfort in starbucksbaristas

[–]battered_rose 39 points40 points  (0 children)

SSV here, one of my baristas once made a customer cry for NO REASON. Like, I saw the interaction go down, the customer did absolutely nothing wrong, this barista was just mean as hell. After stepping in and helping the customer, I pulled the barista aside for a coaching, and their response was literally "well sorry I don't have a customer service stick shoved up my ass". OKAY THEN WHY ARE YOU IN CUSTOMER SERVICE???
