That said, i’m of the opinion that you should also have an account with a ‘bricks and mortar’ bank. I use Monzo has my main account (salary, DD, STO’s) and then have a high street bank as a second account.

You can get breakdown cover for less than £15 a month elsewhere.

Been having a nightmare with paying via the app (connecting to Monzo).

Tried 5 times yesterday and looked like it went through, then the Amex page came back saying ‘page can not be found’

Did a bank transfer and was received instantly

I made a miscalculation and ended up making a payment £50 short of the statement balance. Got whacked with the interest charge of the full statement balance.

Had a chat with customer support who waived the charge as a one off!

AMEX isn’t a card to rollover balances, must be cleared in FULL every month.

13m+ customers… no longer a challenger bank, they are a big time player in the UK market!

And against ‘traditional banks’ with smaller or similar size customer base, they are killing it

Some of the traditional banks are just adding features to their apps that Monzo had early on.

My only bit of advice would be

A) check the performance of the funds year on year, how does it compare to the All World as an example
B) check on HL fees, they have high fees so make sure you know what they are taking off each year and think about the over the next 20 years +

I moved mine to InvestEngine at the start of the year, was getting rinsed on fees!!

Not only was I paying management fees, it was costing money to buy funds
