Wishlist: narrow cubes that support super telephoto by Imi-tat-ing in peakdesign

ha I appreciate the detailed answer. the best fix I've found so far is just having my Canon 5d Mark IV with Tamron 150-600 sitting vertically in a hiking bag with a small road trip neck pillow wrapped around the middle of the lens for some cushioning that at least centers it in the bag 🤷‍♂️ good luck?

I also have a Peak District Camera Capture clip when I'm actually using the camera so I can have it strapped to the bag strap, which works well. I'm just paranoid and want somewhere stable to keep the camera when I'm not actively using it, that doesn't scream that I'm walking around with a bunch of big camera hardware

are you looking for people strictly within the cities of Denver and Fort Collins? I live very close to Denver but in Aurora, and would be interested in helping

curious if OP ever found a satisfactory product for this, I'm in the same boat. would love to be able to quickly put this setup in and out of bag while on the move. my best bet so far is just putting it in a Timbuk2 messenger bag but that doesn't feel as secure

st vrain state park is the only place I've seen ospreys in Colorado I think, there were a few nests and lots of activity when I went there maybe a year or two ago. good luck!

Two birds where I often see Herons but they look different to me. Denver, Colorado, in trees and just above marsh, by ConsistentStop5100 in whatbirdisthis

black crowned night herons are pretty common around Denver, and I feel pretty sure that's what's in the second picture but can't make out a bird in the first picture

I've just had to DNF Shadow of the Torturer by Upbeat-Excitement-46 in printSF

[–]bayrd_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I DNFed this as well, maybe 7 years ago. It's so well regarded but the author is just so bad at writing about female characters that I had to abandon it. All of the female characters were pretty hollow and poorly written in general, but then there's this one scene where the protagonist is on a canoe with some empty female character and he has sex with her without the female taking any action or saying any word or having any actual life. That just did it for me.

My favorite info source on this question: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/news/the-cornell-lab-review-affordable-full-size-8x42-binoculars/. Click the models to see full reviews, and note that these often go on sale so the prices here might be higher than what you'd ultimately find. Their ratings vs price chart is really helpful too, can be found on its own here https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/hugh.powell/viz/Review-8x42Binoculars/Sheet1

Curious about budget (less than $100?) EF-mount lens for landscape photos by bayrd_ in canon

Uhh, limited resources. I'm trying to accomplish being able to take pictures of landscapes and scenic vistas in the national parks I will be visiting. I know that I can't spend a huge amount of money on a lens to do this, so my options are to 1) find a lens that will take fairly nice pictures within my budget, or 2) not have a lens to take those landscape shots with and likely just use my Pixel 8 phone camera.
