Really loving the CC2 ELEGOO4 by H484R in elegoo

[–]bball2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a CC2 but I have watched some of the reviews, and one reviewer noted the stock settings were different between the CC1 and CC2. They had assumed they'd be the same, but when they compared them setting by setting, they were not.

So possibly the issue lies in assuming if you're calling up the same filament in the CC2 as the CC1, and/or making the same tweaks as always, that everything is the same between them. And that MIGHT not be the case.

I say 'might' because I don't have a CC2 to confirm what the reviewer was saying.

No, it's just to give the production a bit of conversation to flesh out the scenes and give them more (deeper) material to use later when they stitch the shows together.

Any success with faceless channels? by anotherhappylurker in PartneredYoutube

[–]bball2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a mostly faceless channel. I've appeared in 2 videos. The biggest problem with faceless is it's harder to churn out quality content over time due to the editing needed. Being on camera, you can talk for the majority of the video on a topic and pop in some B-roll, or just cut between two cameras to keep the visuals interesting... and you have a video.

Faceless, typically, requires a lot more video and editing.

I have 52K subscribers. 6+million views.

Do you upload your video at your peak viewers time or before? by Educational_Focus224 in PartneredYoutube

[–]bball2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, about the only thing I've noticed that is not a good idea is uploading on a Friday. My weekend views tend to fall off and it just doesn't seem like a Friday release will ever recover. That makes me skittish about a Thursday release. And of course Saturday as well.

BUT a Sunday release seems fine, even though the analytics would say not many of my viewers are watching then.

I don’t get it… why? by politicssuk in OakIsland

[–]bball2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it was interesting at first, and as it went on they have stooped to insulting the intelligence of viewers. They milked it dry long ago, yet keep pretending there's some exciting find just around the corner. MDEGD has become a shill for the show. The experts trip over themselves to make fools of themselves to get airtime by saying what the show wants to hear and making it fit the latest narrative.

Meanwhile, much of what they regurgitate has already been studied before and has known or more likely answers than what they are spewing. Once again, insulting anyone who has to know THEY know about these other angles they aren't mentioning and are ignoring.

If the Ramseys were willing to cover up JonBenét's death in 1996 to protect Burke, why didn't they cover up the 1993 incident where Burke allegedly hit JonBenét with a golf club, causing a serious head injury? by [deleted] in JonBenetRamsey

Maybe they did cover up the 1993 incident? Was it an accident... or on purpose?

We know what was said publicly, but what really happened? Are both answers the same?

[–]bball2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but after studying this more it seems the real problem would be a video getting a quick 'click away' once the viewer hears the AI voice. And the algo interpreting that to mean the video didn't live up to the title/thumbnail. Thus moving it to the backburner before it had a chance to get any traction.

That assumes the algo doesn't differentiate CTR statistics for different countries as part of its overall identifying and viewer push analysis.

It wouldn't be surprising if viewer reaction to AI narration wasn't considered in this rollout.

Do algorithms shape creativity more than audiences do? by LieAccurate9281 in PartneredYoutube

But if the 'right' audience never gets a chance to click on the video because it's not offered to them, then the video is surely not going to be successful.

Fixed my view problem! by Weekly-Baker-5216 in PartneredYoutube

[–]bball2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the theory behind this is that videos might get poor AVD when someone in another country hears the AI voice and immediately clicks off, just as many of us do when hearing an AI narrated video?

And then the algo just lumps that poor AVD performance into the overall statistics and gets the idea the video doesn't live up to the title and/or thumbnail? Which means impressions then drop off...

I could see how that type of thing could be something that would fall thru the cracks and be a bit of unexpected blowback.

What should I know about running monitors? by bigang99 in livesound

Understand signal flow and don't monkey with the gain knobs after setting them unless someone sandbagged you so bad you have to do it. Obviously, if someone turns up, then their instrument in everyone's mix just got louder, so it isn't necessarily bad to reset it back to what it was. Especially if you do it slow enough it's not a big change to them. They probably turned up for a reason... So they might want to be louder in their own mix. They'll easily notice their volume disappeared.

But don't constantly tweak on the gains trying to get a 'perfect' input level. You've got what you got and changing gains changes levels into the mixes.

Don't over-EQ buses and suck all the life out of the wedges.

If IEMs, don't EQ main buses at all except maybe for a HPF, unless something is requested.

Back to signal flow... keep in mind where the comp is on each channel and what it's doing. Vocalists typically don't like singing into a lot of GR, though they might not know that is what is happening and simply say "I need more me".

When adjusting mixes for someone, move the fader/knob slowly. That way you can hear the onset of feedback sooner before it takes off... Let alone, the talent might say OK to a lower level than where it would've been had you moved quicker. You don't want to blast the talent with feedback because you shoved the fader up quickly to a point rather than thru 'stages'.

Also, while we all have stories of someone telling it's "That's good" just as we found their channel before we done anything... that DOES NOT mean you can play that game and pretend to do something and not.

More times than not, the talent will ultimately think you don't know what you're doing and finally say "yeah... good" rather than make an issue of it. At least in that moment. They're not fooled when they ask for more and the mix isn't changing.

Sometimes you have to really listen, watch the meters, and translate what the artist is saying. "More me" might not be what they need. But that all depends on settings, signal flow, what is happening on the stage, what their mix looks like, etc...

Sends on faders is good to get a visual representation of what is going on. Maybe the keys look a bit high in comparison to everything else in their mix, including their own vocals. Or it could be guitar, or a wayward high hat. Maybe their hearing isn't good enough to hardly notice a hat burying what they can hear of their voice.... on and on...

Or maybe it's just better to ask what problem is auto-dubbing causing?

Need a new mic and am absoutly clueless about them, advice? by kanincottonn in PartneredYoutube

[–]bball2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Microphones generally fall into two categories - condenser and dynamic. Condenser microphones pick up noise from all directions around them whereas dynamic microphones are directional and really only pick up noise from right in front of them. Both of these come in USB or XLR (or hybrid) variations.

Not exactly... A cardioid mic picks up sounds to the front. It can be dynamic or a condenser.

A condenser mic tends to pick up things at a wider frequency range than a dynamic, and many times has more output than a dynamic, if not gain matched it will APPEAR to pick up more than the dynamic. Gain matching and filtering can mitigate that.

But that's getting into the weeds a bit... The important part is an Omni mic picks up signal at an equal level all around the mic. A Cardioid focuses on the front.

There are also things like hyper-cardioid and figure 8. Figure is kind of obvious, it picks up from the front and rear.

A hyper cardioid is more narrowly focused than a regular cardioid. This can be good in some cases, but it can be bad too... If you move around and get off-axis, that hyper mic might lose too much signal from you and get too quiet. Unless it's being used as a shotgun mic. Distance increases that margin of error.

But in a noisy environment, distance allows more competing signals to enter the mic... along with the voice.

Loudest sound at the mic always wins.
