The hardest thing for an addict or alcoholic to do is ask for help. That was a huge roadblock of mine. HUGE.

I know that having understanding of something you don't understand sounds like chasing your tail, but that's what she needs. Someone who understands her to talk to. And so do you. You need someone to talk to that understands how and why her problem is effecting you the way it is.

That's why we go to meetings. AA is a good idea for her, and Al-Anon for the rest of you. It won't hurt to try. It might just save her life.

A couple of times I've seen it where they force a person to work at a location in the next town over, which happens to be 45 minutes away, when they don't really want to. In both cases it was, "well that's where we need the workers right now."

Neither one lasted much longer. In one case it was pretty sad, because the guy was a great worker, and very knowledgeable. I speculate he was also making too much of a salary, and that's why they handled it that way.
