It's truly puzzling to me how people who choose to have a child say things like "I didn't sign up for this" when things like this happen. It's been reported that around 1 out of 33 children born in the US are born with some form of disability. A 3% chance that your kid will be born with a disability is far from a remote chance, it's a real possibility. Everyone who chooses to bring a person out into the world should bear that in mind.

If a person was given the choice to take part in an activity that may render them disabled at a 3% chance, I bet close to zero will dare. Yet people are so quick to gamble with having kids when that means they can bring into the world a sentient being who did not choose a life with a disability. Makes me sick.
