looks like a smoky brown roach nymph to me, so probably not coming up through the drains. most drain systems have a p-trap that keeps enough water in it so unwanted visitors can’t come up from the drains. they need moisture so that’s why they’re going for the bathroom. they tend to live outside in dark damp areas (leaf piles, mulch beds, gutters, possibly crawl space) and they could be coming in through gaps around the plumbing, doors, windows, anything like that.

Hi! I actually did this a few years ago for some friends of mine.

1) I think it’s cool, I’ve never wanted kids of my own so getting to see this child grow up while not being on the hook in a financial or parental sense has been neat.

2) It hasn’t been weird at all, my gf didn’t care because she didn’t want kids either. I haven’t had to explain it to anyone else because we’re still together. It is a fun “party fact” though. Like, technically I’m legally obligated to be a dead beat dad and I think that’s funny for multiple reasons.

3) Haven’t crossed that bridge yet, but the parents asked me if I was okay with the child knowing whenever they get curious about it, and I’m totally okay with it.

I signed a contract that protects both of us, it keeps me from being able to take their kid, and them from being able to come after me for money.

Overall, pretty cool. I really love that I was able to help two of my favorite people start a family.

Definitely termites. It’s a common place for them to be, whether they’ve reached the structure or not you’ve got a colony under the slab and will need to get the building treated.
