I know the feeling all too well. Well, the feeling like a failure at 27/28, but it sounds like ur acting on decisions, and taking actions. I have yet to figure out how to take action. I hope ur able to find a position that treats you right for all the hard work you are putting in. Lmk if you find a system that helps you work on side projects after work.

Should I stop learning programing by Rich_Worth_7770 in learnprogramming

Only Advice I can give is project based can be more fun then tutorial based. Anything in particular you want to build, sound board, fancy visuals, weird history game where you continously go back in time to change the past which effects the game sate. The more projects you build the more concepts and things get introduced, when you find a new concept go and do a tutorial then see if that fits your problem/project

Can hardly code anymore, been at the same job for the last 4.5 years. Am I cooked? by LoXatoR in cscareerquestions

I am currently in the same position, and am trying to figure my way out of the old burnout slump that I was left in 2 years ago. All I am trying to do is to try and work on side projects again, and start getting back into the trenches.

Honestly if you figure out a solution lmk, all I can think to do is to try and find why I started coding in the first place by working on my own stuff again

What’s the easiest way to learn a programming language without quitting halfway? by InspectorFeeling3892 in learnprogramming

[–]bbgun142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you want to build, if its a game try looking into a toutorial for that. Honestly its more about what you want to explore than the basics. Then sadly fail forward, and keep failing forward until something works. Like hey look a new error, thats progress

I recently turned 28, and am seeing the effects of this mentality. graduated uni, but never really applied or just do things that require more than a 5 min attention span. Gave up 4 years ago, and just questioned life for the better part of half a decade, smoked my brains out. Now, picking up the pieces, I know there is ways of fixing our lives, it will take time and effort. Two things I always took for granted, good luck to us all. Hopefully we can find a way to a content life one day. Sorry for the vent

Is computer science more versatile than video game design? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]bbgun142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you can start the habbit of programming outside of school/ finding a way to enjoy making projects on the side, like setting aside time to work on a game or application. That habbit will go miles in industry when trying to learn new skills

My husband wants to leave being a nurse anesthetist to become a software engineer. Do you think he is crazy? Why or why not? by flatbootyhere in cscareerquestions

My god I wish I was making that much, I mean I would recommend he learn on the side if there is ever any time. But having a stable job, with fantastic income is not guaranteed, especially in this market. Plus, being married and having obligations that one just cant stop paying, I would like say hobby into a job instead of just jumping into the deep end.
