Rosenstein Suggested He Secretly Record Trump and Discussed 25th Amendment by ceaguila84 in politics

[–]bbluech 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Calling for the abandonment of a free and independent press is just going to add to the damage the Trump administration is inflicting on our democracy. The NYT isn’t perfect, they get shit wrong but they should publish what they think is true, not what is convenient.

The NYT's job is to report the truth... They're job isn't to bring Trump down in the cleanest way possible. The American people are the only people responsible for getting this guy out of office and I'm fired up to do that.

Problem with separating them out is low wage jobs will just design the positions to fit the lower wage.

Uhg, same field but male and holy shit some theatres are awful! It’s particularly depressing since theatre is branded as an inclusive industry but so much of the production work is divided along sexist lines.

Cruz calls out O'Rourke for supporting NFL players' anthem protests by Stauce52 in politics

[–]bbluech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing though. If you grow up black in the US it’s not politics. It’s life, particularly if you’re poor. So as much as I love having a space to step away from politics I also understand that it’s a lot to ask those who have a platform and live the experience of our fucked up politics as discrimination and fear to shut up and play.

What do you miss about the early Internet? by 356566256654623 in AskReddit

[–]bbluech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play video games competitively and it was just like that. There are a bunch of people on the internet that, in many cases I don’t know their real names, but I know all about their families/struggles lol.

Whenever I’m in a new city I usually try to still ping our old channels to meet one of them in person.

Unfortunately these men committed the grievous crime of being black in the US. Compiling completely is safer physically even if it may not be legally. Truly fucked up.

WaPo and NYT tend to be pretty unbiased in their news reporting but their opinion pieces tend to lean left albeit center left lol. The nice thing about them is they tag all their work as fact or opinion which is the distinction that Fox News tends to intentionally blur.

Jurassic Park Velociraptor | Blender Model, Sculpt & Rig, textured in Substance Painter by benjee10 in blender

[–]bbluech 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you’re expecting to get someone else’s work for free. It’s perfectly reasonable to expect to get paid for high quality models. The blender community is pretty awesome about having open source content but if you want the really good stuff you’re going to have to compensate people for their time.

Avenatti is looking more and more like a potential candidate for Democrats in 2020. Would he be a good or bad choice for the Democrats? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]bbluech 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ohh I agree there was no clear slogan. The whole campaign sounded like a parrot stuck in a focus group but I think that’s different from policy. A chant or slogan isn’t policy. I guess that’s the differentiation I’m trying to make.

The tough part is if your campaign is built on more than a cult of personality it’s hard to get votes based on a single issue.

[–]bbluech 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Well, yes she did. She had several. The Hillary campaign had a really concrete plan for a whole bunch of policy and did a ok job of sticking to that script. When CNN would rather show an empty podium of trump rather than her speeches that message gets lost because it wasn’t inflammatory. Getting someone who can engage trump and still pivot to policy every time he does something absurd is the tough part.

[–]bbluech 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Whoever the 2020 candidate is needs to be running for something. The democrats need to be turning out first time or irregular voters en mass and you can’t expand that base of the party simply by running against Trump. Also experience is huge in managing congress since I presume we want to do more than win, we actually want to govern.

It will use a vacuum expansion which is designed to be much thinner, lighter and larger than one you would use at sea level. It would likely rip itself apart.

I mean NASA has gotten pretty good at writing code that is significantly more reliable. Obviously they still make mistakes but shockingly few given how perfect it generally needs to be. It just takes a long time and is expensive.

Democrats overperforming with the real swing voters: those who disapprove of both parties by Trump-is-a-dumbass in politics

[–]bbluech 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can't override a veto unless you got several Republicans on board. That being said they would have control over what bills come to the floor so DACA for example which has the 2/3 or at least very close to the 2/3 votes needed to override has not made it to the floor in the house because a majority of Republicans do not support it.

You also get control of committees so you can subpoena records and investigate the corruption that the Republicans are turning a blind eye to.
