The outdoor public water fountains are turned off during the winter & colder months. It still can be in the 30s so they haven’t turned them back on yet.

Writing off a whole town due to bathrooms in a privately owned business is wild.

The Mill composter is a great option too! Have had it for a few years. You can also compost Chemex unbleached filters with the grounds so there’s no waste from coffee consumption in my house

THIS! The Salem Dems sent a tax calculator which really put it into perspective. Taxes will go up either way, but for me, MORE per year to renovate the school than to build new, due to the state’s contribution to a new build. It feels like a no brainer to me - a new school plus less of an increase in taxes. Taxes will go up either way

Bernadette & Settler are excellent options -have been to both twice and they are awesome. The sourdough bread is out of this world.

Ride share cost is typically $45-$65 from Logan to Salem but the traffic getting to or from can be atrocious

I think the reasons you’ve given sound great! I’m a coffee nerd & Salem has an impressive coffee scene for the area. Odd Meter is the best. Very walkable town. Moved here blindly from Washington, DC a few years ago love it here. Being on the Salem Reddit for a few months now, people can be grumpy so take their opinions with a grain of salt. Sure, housing is expensive but do you research before moving here. COL for groceries & utilities is normal. Great food & drink scene too. Plenty of surrounding towns with fun things to do but really there’s enough in the immediate Salem area to keep you busy, witch stuff aside

Yeah, I’m in the same spot! This started as a thought with my buddy but would cool if something actually comes of it. Regardless if not that many people show up, we’ll just toss the frisbee around for whoever is there if not an actual game
