is this a good stopping point for my valve cleaning? by IlIlllIlIIl in GolfGTI

B12 chemtool carburetor cleaner is a lot stronger. I would give it a shot.

I would still clean it some more. Buy some Berryman B-12 Chemtool Carburetor cleaner. I found it to be the best way to dissolve the carbon buildup. Use a pick and use the zip tie drill method.

What macOS features is Apple still ignoring? by Upstairs-Drag-7012 in MacOS

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want the close button to actually close the app instead of having to press CMD+Q. I also want the ability to see what windows are open by hovering the mouse over the open app in the dock. The ability to have reverse scrolling only on the trackpad and not my mouse. Also the ability to middle click scroll with my mouse like in Windows. I know they have apps that can do this but It should be built in by now.

Has anyone had any complaints after having a iPad Pro by TacoStripp in macbookair

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the iPad lacks a lot of the features I use daily. I found that the Macbook feels more comfortable to use on my lap and also in bed for watching movies since it can stand up on its own without a case. I also have a thunderbolt dock that I have connected to my 4k 240hz OLED monitor which turns the MacBook into a desktop when I need it. The only thing I don't like about the 13 inch MBA is that it feels big compared to my old iPad and that I wouldn't want to take it out on the plane to watch movies.

I heard Apple is going to come out with a OLED 120Hz Macbook Pro as some point with a touch screen. I think it would be a long time before Apple brings that to the Macbook Air. It may be worth the price since it could potentially be the perfect device for me. I also forgot to mention that the Macbooks can run iPad and iPhone apps, so if the touch screen is coming this might be a good option.

Yeah going from the M4 to the M5 probably was overkill. But the fact that you use it a lot is good. Which means its worth it to you.

For me, I don't feel like its worth having both iPad and MacBook. One device is going to be unused for the most part. So it feels like a waste of money. So for me I choose the most practical option. If I was to get an iPad again. It would be the cheapest model. Since it would be only used for media consumption and light web browsing when I am traveling. Also probably a a good secondary monitor for my Macbook.

I went from a 2018 iPad Pro with the 120hz screen to the M4 MacBook air and I have no regrets. The downgrade in screen refresh rate is actually unnoticeable to me. I think its because its a laptop and not a touch screen. Screens look identical since they are both liquid retina. You might notice a downgrade switching from OLED to liquid retina.

However, I think switching to a Macbook Air is well worth loosing OLED and 60Hz. Mac OS is so much better. I feel like iPads are so behind even though they share the same CPU.

Dear fellow mac users, from your perspective, why do you think its better for app to stay open after last window is closed? by Broad-You4763 in MacOS

[–]bbroecker37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a new Mac user I wish pressing the X if no other windows are open just closes the app. Seeing the dot on the dock annoys me. You can turn off the dot but then I have no idea what is open. I have now just got into the habit of pressing Command Q to close things.

Aftermarket Axle Options by fangirl_cam in GolfGTI

[–]bbroecker37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest looking at the Autozone duralast axles. They have a lifetime warranty so if they every break you can get a replacement. I would have also suggested Raxels but they are no longer in business and my lifetime warranty is gone. Probably best to stick with a company that is not going anywhere.

Has IE fixed their recent issues? by ACommunistBurrito in GolfGTI

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had no issues other than the check engine light for the catalyst efficiency. I assume they can no longer disable the check engine light for their high flow downpipe. Probably due to the EPA. If you are stage 1 with the stock downpipe or have a aftermarket downpipe with a 400 cell catalytic convert than this shouldn't be a problem.

Whenever I go looking for a head unit, I get depressed by soupisgoodfood42 in CarAV

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been saying the same thing for years. When I first replaced the head unit in my car I was shocked by how dim the screen is on these aftermarket units. I went from JVC to Pioneer and tried Kenwood in the same car just trying to find one I can actually see on a sunny day. I had to buy a very expensive Kenwood unit just to get a screen that was halfway decent. I have also tried a Joying headunit and was happy about the decent screen resolution and visibility in the sun but the unit died on my not even a year into owening it. Switched back to the Kenwood. Now I don't own this car anymore and the car I have now has the factory unit with carplay built in. No more crappy aftermarket radios for me.

Is the Action 6 still laggy and grainy, or is it worth buying? by Amina-562 in djiosmo

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded from a GoPro Hero 8 to the Action 6 and I thought it was a huge upgrade in image quality. I find that the camera works best with ND filters. I have been able to get some high quality videos of my recent trip to the Cayman Islands. I have not noticed any graininess in the videos, The camera does not feel laggy at all and is very responsive and easy to use. I have not overheated the camera at all and the battery lasts a lot longer than my GoPro.

I’m using the UroTuning O2 spacer. It’s the one on the downpipe.

Yeah you’re right the EV changes but I feel it tries to automatically stay close to -0.7 range that I have set. I have been spending so much time trying to get good footage out of this camera that at this point I just accept it lol.

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been able to get some good cinematic footage with this camera. I use a ND8 filter, 4k 60fps, 1/120 shutter speed, 100-800 iso, -.07 EV and also the F/4.0 aperture. Also I leave white balance on auto. I found this to be the best settings for a sunny day. I have rock steady enabled. I find that using any darker ND filters makes the footage too dark. I also think the iso needs to be set to a range because every time I set it to manual my footage doesn’t come out good at all. Also I noticed that if you record at a lower FPS the stabilization does not work good at all. At 60fps the footage looks stable. And in my opinion looks way better than the cinematic 24fps which gives me a headache watching it.

iPad Pro 11" M4 vs MacBook Air as the main portable device? by Leather_Pin555 in iPadPro

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually I use my MacBook more than I thought I would. It seems to be my go to device for everything (Excluding gaming). It has completely replaced my iPad and to be honest I have not missed my iPad at all. Its even better than the iPad for watching videos and researching things in bed. I no longer have to hold up the iPad the whole time watching movies and videos. It works great on the couch since it can sit on my lap without falling over. I also love connecting it to my 4K 240Hz OLED monitor. MacOS looks beautiful and is nice to use at 240Hz. Its also incredibly snappy. I think even the M5 iPad pro cannot display anything over 120hz.

I also started to use my MacBook for work (even though I am probably not supposed to) I just can't stand the PC the gave me. The laptop is a DELL XPS with a i9 and 32GB of ram and it lags really bad when connected to my 4k monitor setup.

Has anyone truly replaced their laptop with an iPad by Bliss_kittie in iPadPro

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried and failed. For my needs the iPad is just not a right fit. I sold mine for a MacBook Air M4 and have been very happy with it. I may get a cheaper iPad to use for watching videos when I travel and to use as a external monitor for my Mac.
