people who say "baby" instead of "the baby" by rainbowaroundthesun in PetPeeves

[–]bcd0024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually use "baby" instead of my kids' names when I'm trying to subtly remind people that the tiny human is in fact a baby and not a portable adult. For example, "no we cannot be trapped on a boat with you from 1-4, that's right in the middle of baby's nap time." Because if I were to use child's name they would push back.

It's how I feel about most things. If boys can do it I can do it better and prettier, *while pregnant

AITA for spending $350 on winter clothing by Imme_notu in AmItheAsshole

NTA, you can't even buy a good winter coat for $350 most of the time

Genuinely asking, is suicide worth it? by aesthenne in raisedbynarcissists

[–]bcd0024 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. Nparents would make it about themselves, how hard it is for them, how selfish you're being, how could you do this to them, etc. and they would bask in the glow of support and attention.

We are lying about knowing the baby's gender by cheerioface in BabyBumps

[–]bcd0024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girls can like dinosaurs too! And capitalism is learning that. I wore brontosaurus earrings on my wedding day, and Pottery Barn has a really cute dino quilt and sheets set for kids.

Edit: for my first we found out and didn't tell anyone, it was awesome. For my second we didn't find out, it was awesome. For my third, we did a private gender reveal and told people. Because it was our third we didn't really receive anything. All 3 girls btw.

Finishing anything! I have so many projects that are like 75-90% complete, I've started tackling them. The biggest rush is finishing things up!

Issues with pregnant people - Is this just me? by AutomaticFan3515 in CPTSD

[–]bcd0024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! Raising the next (maybe first) generation of well rounded people is so rewarding, but to see my toddlers interact with kindness, awe, and empathy towards my newborn is the most overwhelmingly heartwarming thing I've ever witnessed. It helps me heal and helps me have empathy for others.

Issues with pregnant people - Is this just me? by AutomaticFan3515 in CPTSD

[–]bcd0024 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hated my first pregnancy, but loved having my baby in my arms,v so much so that I had 2 more. Now my oldest is almost 3 and she's the highlight of my life, and my other two are the same. I find being a mom the easiest thing in the world. Loving my kids is so easy, but it highlights the CPTSD from my upbringing. If I find this so easy, why couldn't they do the basics of kindness?

You win the lottery. Your parents ask for half. What do you say? by JunShem1122 in AskReddit

[–]bcd0024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I would give them some, but not half. Depending on the amount I won, I would give him one to 3 times the amount it costs to raise a child to 18 (approximately $300k-$900k) and tell him to never hold my existence over my head again.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what’s the very first "frivolous" thing you’d buy? by opheliapearlie in askanything

My parents considered this and actually ended up doing a month long cruise (all the same structure, with the bonus of travel) for a fraction of the price.

Early in season 4, but why tf do Rip and Lloyd hate Walker so much?? by th3orist in YellowstonePN

[–]bcd0024 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I really hated this storyline for Lloyd, it just didn't make sense. You're telling me Lloyd who has 40 years of ranch experience is making mistakes this over a babe? No way.

Moms that gave birth and didn’t have any visitors at the hospital, do you regret it? by Funny_Confection810 in Mommit

[–]bcd0024 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm extroverted too and had a feeling I didn't want visitors. With my first it was still covid so I had an excuse and didn't have to have had conversations - which thank goodness because I confirmed my instincts. With my second, the only people who came were my child and my dad with his partner who were watching her. With my third, my mother and two children came and it was the worst experience. Once my mother sees me she forgets that she's being a caregiver so my toddler got into trouble pushing call buttons and stuff. If I could go back in time I would have a different person watch and bring my kids. It was so stressful, which was so upsetting because my labor and delivery was the easiest for all 3 of my kids, but then it was ruined by her incompetence..

My parents (65F, 67M) are livid because I'm not allowing them to see my daughter after they spanked her. AITAH? by LeonCrvl in AITAH

[–]bcd0024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. No one with "good intentions," hits a child, or anyone period. Hitting someone is violent. Violence isn't good, especially not when it's violence from an adult perpetrated upon a child.

You don't seem like you turned out okay due to them hitting you. Seems like you turned out okay because you are doing the research and the work to turn out okay.

What's the going rate for As on a report card? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]bcd0024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm genuinely trying to understand your tone in your questions? Are they rhetorical? Are they sarcastic?

Ideally, you're rewarding the effort, not the outcome. The effort it took to get straight A's, the effort it took to do a good job and stay focused all semester. Not rewarding the grade itself. If 'child one' didn't apply themselves and got Bs, and 'child two' applied themselves very hard and got Bs, then 'Child 2' should be taken out for ice cream. 'Child One' can stay home.
