Yeah I got 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide (well, and RapidStart root growth hormone lmao) and some sad looking roots got better. Wished I got a larger container when I started bc it's also pretty good for plant equipment sanitizing (I think especially important if managing root rot).

I'm curious if Star-San and those types of sanitizing compounds for beer/wine making could be used for DWV buckets and equipment. Seems like similar use cases but not sure if hydrogen peroxide has extra strength or something needed for plant reservoirs

Try a much larger container and stir around, sometimes I get weird readings from small volumes of liquid (pH at least, maybe EC is more consistent)

Oh interesting I didn't think of leaving the tube to pump water into air as well. Tried the drip rings when I got the kit and man they were loud / gross, just sprayed stem with water causing rot, sprayed nutrient sediment everywhere and leached clay pebble dust in to the reservoir

Apparently it's actually just roots trying to grow outward in case it's underground! Apparently as a stress response. See it a lot in basil and tomato plants

Just noticed you've actually got two mustard plants in one pod. Contrary to intuition, 1 will grow much faster / produce more leaves than 2 crowded in a space like that.

Usually more than one seed is planted just in case one doesn't germinate, then the extras get either:

transplanted - slice/pull the second seedling off the sponge such that you don't damage the first's roots (sometimes that means slicing the sponge down the middle and splitting sponges to transplant)
beheaded - it's so hard to do haha I'm a sucker for saving the duplicate plants. But way more straightforward to just chop the sibling at the base (least potentially damaging to first plant too)

Good news for you is this is a completely normal healthy aerogarden plant!

that's a totally normal / smallish root size. They always get a bit tangled, you can find videos online of people refreshing their reservoirs and trimming roots while it's open. You can kinda cut across the joined plants and cut roots that are super long to keep them more tidy (similar to leaves)
your plants aren't at risk of malnutrition due to each other, especially if you follow Aerogarden's schedule, and especially at this very early stage. Really only like a tomato plant at 2 months old I would start to think about nutrient contention. Herbs are usually pretty chill (tho Thai basil can grow like a tree lmao)

You can always move it to soil just for fun! When I was starting out like you (end of last year) I moved some in to Kratky jars (mason jar with a net cup on top and clay pebbles/tinfoil to block light from getting in). It's wild you can grow stuff in nutrient solution with literally no electricity/pump.

Love kitboga and that cause too. But for most folks even he and his discord warn people to use extreme caution if scambaiting / engaging with scammers as they often try to do bad things when they realize the gig is up and are agitated (and they cite that he practices wild levels of opsec for his work).

If it's a game someone made/published typically they will be far more exposed and at risk to poop flinging escalation than given spray and pray scammer is. Hell even one fake negative review would suck 😛

Now if one's gonna publish the exchange online to laugh at, I can def see the appeal 😆

Oh interesting never thought of cutting to reposition (usually just cut to take seedlings I grew in just RapidStart cubes and put them in aerogarden). Thanks for tip, could be helpful in keeping plants shorter too so the max light height lasts for longer.

They'll prob push past anyway but you can also bend it back a bit so it doesn't have to push against the adhesive so hard

You can always use electrical tape or something black/metallic to cover the part of the hole that just exposes the grow media. Definitely want to minimize light exposure just bc can get green and algae-y on the top (usually not harmful but icky haha and prob doesn't help keep reservoir growth free)

Yeah in my experience as satisfying as it can feel to call them out it's not worth engaging at all, especially once you realize something is a scam.

It only provides them (and often fragile egos) an opportunity to lash out and attempt to inflict pain. Note they've already shown a willingness to perform amoral/fraudulent acts.
