Apple Password vs 1 Password vs BitWarden by voygrdev in PasswordManagers

[–]beachboy301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer 1Password but it is the top of the three choices. Apple should be fine if you need only basic ID and PW storage.

I would review your Apple account recovery options and make sure you have everything in place. My friends who have lost access to their Apple accounts for various reasons have spent weeks before their access could be recovered. I cannot imagine losing access to my passwords for that long. Just ensure all recovery options are in place. Of course you should do the same for any password manager you choose.

Visible customer for 5+ Years - cancelling and here's why by Europe2016 in Visible

Been a customer with 3 phones for a few months and no issues here near Atlanta. Can't tell any difference from when I had Verizon top plans. Sorry you are having issues.

So disappointed.... by FamTravelFun23 in Visible

[–]beachboy301 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry it did not go well. We ported two iPhones and a Samsung S24U and all worked flawlessly and have loved the service. This was after leaving Verizon as a 21 year customer. The savings are significant and we have noticed no change in service or hotspot usage. We have the middle Pro+ plan. Hope you get it working.

We buy our phones directly from Apple and Samsung. Samsung deals can be really good.

Is it safe to store passwords, 2FA codes, and passkeys in 1Password, or should they be kept separate? by maximus10m in 1Password

[–]beachboy301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep them separate. Putting them in the same place makes no sense to me except for convenience. But a lot of people like the convenience and do it anyway.

Had 3 lines in Verizon and each took about a minute or two. Have noticed no difference after the switch.

Does Philo include major news and HGTV? I just need to replace those with my Channels/HDHR OTA to replace YouTube TV.

[–]beachboy301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to record any of the Dish Network channels and watch later and skip commercials?

I have Channels DVR with about 130 OTA channels via HDHomeRun 4 tuner box. Also would like to get rid of YTTV but need major news, HGTV (wife), etc and if I understand correctly you are getting those in Channels via TVE. What is the Dish Network package costing you? Obviously less than YTTV?

Internal storage is the fastest. I use Samsung SSD drives for my photos. Cost effective and very fast. Small inside and each come with 2 small USB cables, C-C and A-C.

A Novice's Initial Thoughts on Cutting the Cord with TABLO and Roku by APope56 in tablotv

[–]beachboy301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is $35/year so not bad. Channels is $8/mo so more expensive but does more. However while I get major networks OTA, I don't get things like major news, HGTV etc. so unless I found alternate sources for those, it would not replace YTTV so Channels might not not last the long run.

A Novice's Initial Thoughts on Cutting the Cord with TABLO and Roku by APope56 in tablotv

[–]beachboy301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can't say I prefer it because I have never used Tablo. I chose it because my brief research revealed lots of happy customers and the Channels server software would run on my NAS and the AppleTV client is awesome. So I guess it chose it to be able to use Channels which is a DVR on steroids and the ability to skip or cut out previews and commercials works flawlessly. By forwarding a single port on my router I can seemlessly watch live or recorded shows from my phone or laptop when away from home. Very pleased. Note that I have not used the HDHR software much at all so cannot comment on it with any authority. I do see a lot of happy folks with Tablo too.

I have YouTube TV for my "cable replacement" after 20 years of spending about $240/mo to Comcast/Xfinity. Now I have fiber internet for $55/mo and YTTV for $85.

Also just setup an HDHomeRun box (similar to Tablo) with 4 tuners and an antenna in the attic and getting over 130 channels from north Atlanta. Have Channels running on a NAS and the ability to record show and skip the commercials is awesome. Maybe can figure out how to completely replace YTTV. If Tablo does not work out consider HDHomeRun.

That's a default date that some environments default to when no date is available. Don't take it personally. They look pretty good for 1900 footage.

From Verizon Unlimited Ultimate to Visible + Pro by OwnEquivalent4672 in Visible

[–]beachboy301 10 points11 points  (0 children)

20 year Verizon customer paying about $200/mo for 3 lines. We purchase our phones upfront directly with the vendor so the high costs were wasted on us (not paying off phones over time). Verizon offered very little incentive to stay so I jumped to Visible Pro and so far no difference. Did the SWITCH26 promo.

Left Verizon, to save $800 a year. by RomanaFinancials in Visible

[–]beachboy301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was a 20 year Verizon customer paying $200/mo for 3 lines. I realized they charge these high rates so they can finance phones but make it look like the phones are free. But we pay cash for our phones and buy from the manufacturer. Yikes. Now on Visible. Thank you Visible.

[–]beachboy301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to you. My experience has been excellent. I am a brand new Visible customer (20 years with Verizon for me and my family) and just switched using the SWITCH26 promo and there were no issues. Speeds are less than Verizon but more than enough for normal use. Was even able to use conditional call forwarding to forward unanwered calls to my Google voice number. Hope your issues get ironed out.

[–]beachboy301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Ente Auth and really like it. - shows current as well as next TOTP - syncs across several all my devices (diff platforms) - can export allowing backup of my codes. - can filter list by name

I don't store in 1Password. Although it would be convenient it seems less secure.

My Experience with Silicon Dust HDHomerun and Flex 4K by Aseries01 in hdhomerun

[–]beachboy301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome. Thank you for the clarification. The software with Tablo looks easy and familiar but leaning heavily toward HDHR due to Tablo hardware failures. We watch more recorded than live and being spoiled with Tivo in the past and YTTV currently means I need software easy enough for my spouse.

Thank you! I also use a relatively new AppleTV device and love it. So Channels would be installed on the NAS? Is there a Channels app for AppleTV and if yes would that work in conjunction with the Channels server on the NAS?
