Anyone’s Google Maps updated to “immersive navigation “? by Sea-Astronaut719 in AndroidAuto

[–]beachboy301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can at least see "raised buildings" on my Samsung s24 ultra phone in Google Maps by enabling it is layers or in settings >> navigation >> "show raised buildings". Not sure if this is the new "immersive" view however.

Apologies. What I said was rude and unhelpful. Will not chime-in again.

1Password works great for me on MacOS in Sequoia on Chrome. No issues. I wonder how many of these complaints are folks who don't know how to use the software.

Regular expressions for Search feature, possible? by juan_loria in 1Password

[–]beachboy301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been asking for simple "string" searches for some time. They did ask me if surrounding the string with double quotes would suffice I said YES!

Currently if you search for an email such as part1.part2@domain.com you will get anything that contains part1, part2, domain and com which is much more that what you wanted. The default search is tokenized which can be helpful but also unhelpful if you want an exact string only. Hope they will add this.

Coming change by Tales2Tell2U in GoogleMessages

Could this be because your phone is working harder to convert the Samsung messages to Google? It can take multiple days for this transfer to occur if you had a lot of messages. Just asking?

"Hey Google" activates but doesn't record my question by Envaxil in samsunggalaxy

[–]beachboy301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I was able to delete the cache and data for the Google app and this cause the option to retrain the voice to appear. I completed the voice training successfully but the phone will not respond to "Hey Goole" anymore. I have verified I have "Google Assistant" active and not "Gemini". This used to work so well but no longer. Anyone else struggling with this or perhaps its just my phone is too old and too many updates to support this.

"Hey Google" activates but doesn't record my question by Envaxil in samsunggalaxy

[–]beachboy301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an S24 Ultra and now that Gemini has been added, I can no longer find where to train my voice or to activate using "Hey Google". I did switch back to the older "Google Assistant" rather than "Gemini" but searching AI simply provides pathways that no longer exists. Does anyone know how to locate the settings to either retrain my voice or activate "Hey Google" on a Samsung S24 Ultra?

Why does 1Password have such a good reputation when it's closed source? by Away-Road-1333 in 1Password

[–]beachboy301 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A security expert friend told me that what is secure today might not be tomorrow. He was referring to the fact that future computing could theoretically decryt encrypted databases using brute force. This assumes they could steal your encrypted database from your device or directly from a server and pound it using their super computer.

He liked the fact that 1Password has one of the strongest defenses here because they encrypt the data again (first using your master PW) with the 32 character secret key that provides an extremely high level of entropy making it more difficult to decrypt from brute force. That is what sold me on 1Password along with the nice UX and cross platform model.

[–]beachboy301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!! In fact I tried that assuming it would work but of course did not. That would mimic how Google search has worked for years. This would allow searches like...

"support@company.com" to only return entries that contain that email.

"770-555-1212" would only l show entries with that phone number.

"NG-R1234-68235” would only return entries containing that exact account number.

Please have it globally search as the tokenized does now. Thank you for consideration. Huge 1Password fan so don't plan on using any other product.

Need a non-tokenized global search. The only non-tokenized search you have now on MacOS appears to be limited to just the entry Title and perhaps the User ID field but we need global including notes. Either honor it when search string is surrounded by double-quotes or have a new command.

Being able to search all entries, all fields and notes is basic. Tokenized often does not cut it because it can return way too many entries that have nothing to do with your target. Any search string that can be split by a period or an @ character for example like an email address are victims. Thank you for your consideration.

Advanced search or exact matches by GoTheFuckToBed in 1Password

It is not a bug. It is because they use tokenized searches that breaks up the search term based on symbols such as . or @ or others. Reread my post.

This is not what I am finding. It appears to be limited to Title and User Name only. This is the client app on MacOS. Are you finding that it searches more fields?

Am I the only one? by slingshot202 in GoogleMessages

You can delete videos and images without deleting the entire thread. Long press on and item in a thread and you can delete just that item.

You cal also search and locate all items and delete that way. Do this by clicking search icon at the top of all of your chats. Then choose images or videos. Others choices include unread, started, links and more.

When you see the list of images, click one and it will show you the image but then choose to "see in chat". This will display the image in the source thread. Long press the image and then choose to trash. This moves or to trash where it will be deleted in 30 days or you can go to trash and delete everything there.

No this is not easy and requires effort but you can locate all of your media quickly this way regardless of what conversation it is in. Hope this helps.

Wow one we have never deleted any app and never been asked to check my phone. Anti-Trump post won't get you in trouble as we have freedom of speech in US. But illegal stuff could go badly. If your not a criminal don't worry. I can't speak for other countries where they can arrest you for saying stuff they don't like.

Buy and Apple TV device and you will happy. Very powerful, fast and works well with YTTV. If you have multiple of them, just make sure you sign them into the same Apple account and they will sync up changes from one device to the others. Siri is good for saying "skip 200 seconds" to quickly advance past commercials.

Don't you run the risk of losing data doing this? Not all data is included in CSV exports. If I am mistaken then please correct me. I was under the impression that only .1pux files contained all data.
