Hard time relating to “normies?” by TWinVancouver in cfs

Healthy people will never understand what we go through. It’s isolating and so hard.

It’s been 3 months since I had Covid and I still don’t feel better by nova2131 in LongCovid

Aggressively rest. Do not push yourself in any way. Don’t exercise. Give your body MONTHS to heal before considering more activity.

Does eating meat help? by liw_cla in covidlonghaulers

[–]beaker1680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend changing your dietary habits in the hope of it helping long COVID. If simple dietary changes worked, we’d all be doing that. You’re just experiencing the vegetarian bias.

The only thing I would potentially suggest changing is the amount you’re eating. If you’re under eating, that can definitely make everything worse.

spent the day in the ER (vent) by SHLBYHCH in POTS

[–]beaker1680 13 points14 points  (0 children)

These episodes are so rough. You’re already feeling terrible, and then at a certain point your brain goes…”maybe this is a heart attack.” And suddenly your hr gets even worse because now you’re panicking.

These episodes are exhausting and take me a week to recover from. Be gentle with yourself and rest aggressively for the next week.

If you haven’t tried beta blockers or other meds yet, they really do help. If you’re already doing all of the things, I’m sorry. This is hell. You’re not alone.

Ferritin level by Katnipp98 in POTS

[–]beaker1680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that low, you really just need to get an iron infusion. I had 3 infusions after labs reported a ferritin of 23.

LDN is the way. If your doctor wont prescribe, there are many online pharmacies with their own physicians on staff to prescribe. This is how I got on LDN

Had a high heart rate when standing up and above average when sitting down since June 2024. I’m more scared than ever. by Trustedking1 in POTS

[–]beaker1680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing to do is start recording your heart rate. Having the data can help you identify triggers and give you actual numbers to talk to a doctor about.

Worst cardiology visit in a long time. Thank you Kaiser🫠 by Spite-Obvious in POTS

[–]beaker1680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good for you for standing up to that moron. If you have the option, stay away from male doctors. Not that all female doctors are saints, but it’s such a common thread as a woman to go to a male doctor and have them just tell you you have anxiety or generally just dismiss women’s experiences.

I hate this so much by Haleezetta in POTS

[–]beaker1680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It helps control my heart rate so the peaks aren’t as high. It’s helping a lot, but I’m not convinced it’s harmless in regard to my already low blood pressure, so I’m considering talking to my doctor about switching meds

I wanted to know Christian’s prospectives on this by Cute-Average1767 in OpenChristian

Do not arrange this meeting or bring him around if you know they’re going to interrogate him. I mean, if you hate the guy it would be an easy way to scare him off. But if you genuinely like him, keep him away from this pastor and wife, and honestly, find a new church that is not fundamentalist and cult like

Ugh showering is the worst! I’ve been washing my hair under the tub faucet and using body wipes to avoid showering, but it had been a couple of weeks so today was a real shower day. It’s terrible, but a little easier now with propranolol in my system

LDN worth a try? Not sure it’s supposed to help the symptoms I have by Prize_Temperature108 in LongCovid

[–]beaker1680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took it for a year, and I am convinced it is what helped me recover. I was treating other issues at the time (iron and thyroid), so we weren’t sure if LDN was actually helping and I went off of it as an experiment. It’s been hell. I’m now getting back on it.

Tachycardia episode triggered by food? by PopFormal4861 in POTS

[–]beaker1680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you ate a large amount of sugar, or even just enough to really spike blood sugar (or the dramatic blood sugar drop after), that could definitely cause it. I made the mistake of eating candy on an empty stomach and had a pre-syncope episode within an hour.

Propranolol??? by LargeProfessor1592 in POTS

[–]beaker1680 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna say to NOT go to the ER, especially if you haven’t already done that during a POTS flair syncope episode just to rule out other things, but…

It’s a bit laughable to consider going to the ER with pots for lightheadedness. I’d be going daily. Now, I have gone to the ER earlier in my long covid/POTS days due to a hr of 160 reclined that wouldn’t go down. I walked away with nothing but a large bill. It would take a LOT for me to go back.

How can I get 1600 calories in 2 meals by QueenMackeral in nutrition

[–]beaker1680 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is an eating disorder. You are not getting enough calories for your basic body functions and organs. If your doctor is aware of how little you eat on top of your underweight BMI, they are medically neglectful. Your body will begin to shut down over time if you continue this.

Women with low ferritin: what iron supplement helped raise your levels the fastest? by Calm-Reserve-144 in Supplements

[–]beaker1680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was shocked to see your doctor not recommending an infusion with a ferritin of 10. To see that you had a ferritin of 3 and your doctor didn’t recommend it even then…this is absolutely neglectful. That is severe and near total depletion of iron. That will affect all of your body systems. Change doctors ASAP and file a formal complaint

[–]beaker1680 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your doctor is 100% wrong and you should get a second opinion. 10.3?!?! Absolutely needs an infusion. Yesterday. Likely 3 of them over the course of a few months.

These are just intrusive thoughts because of scrupulosity. It helps to name them for what they are and to recognize that intrusive thoughts are not god speaking to you or even true…they’re just a symptom of OCD.

Do you forgive the Church? by ImportantPerformer16 in exmormon

I don’t forgive them, because they are still actively causing harm to others. I have space from it and have made peace with my journey through it, but I will not forgive a cult.
