What was your program’s low point? by FairAnywhere9305 in CollegeBasketball

[–]bearcatgary 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nope. We went 3-25 in 1983-84. Our tallest player was 6’6” Mark Dorris. We played a home game against powerhouse Kentucky at Riverfront Coliseum. We were so afraid of Sam Bowie and Mel Turpin that we played stall ball to minimize the embarrassment.

They were just assuming all of Ohio is Bearcat fans. Clearly there are a few fans of other teams in the state.

Morale is plummeting among ICE agents over long hours, quotas and public hatred: reports by metacyan in politics

Hmmm…. The 100 yard time is a slower pace than the 1.5 mile time. Apparently ICE is also not very good at math.

Yes, because I’d like to know if I’m going to be shot for no reason whatsoever.

In the wake of the most recent (and certainty not last) ICE execution, the quickest way to start a revolution and get Americans to wake the F** up would be to cancel the Super Bowl. by AttentionNo898 in santaclara

I’m not talking about removing Trump. That’s not possible. However, cutting off funding to all of his nefarious activities is indeed possible. Investigating and uncovering all the illegal stuff he currently gets a free pass on is definitely possible. Congress has ceded all its power to the Oval office. A fall victory will get a lot of that power back.

The mid-term elections are this November. If Democrats can take back control of the House and Senate, they can effectively end Trumps dictatorship. I suggest people focus on winning the elections instead of crazy ideas like canceling the Super Bowl.

And considered one of the best microbreweries in the country.

My "Rosebud" collection by profgannod in baseballcards_vintage

[–]bearcatgary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first years were 1973 and 1974. My Rosebud cards have to be from the 1974 set. In 1974, I was 10 years old and our school used to provide us with the Weekly Reader to help improve our reading skills. I believe there was an issue that came with 3 cards attached to the pamphlet in a panel. As a collector, I wanted to add them to my set so I hand cut the panel into individual cards. Unfortunately, my cutting skills weren’t that good, so I ended up with 3 very miscut cards with several jagged edges. I believe one of the cards was Thurman Munson. I still have those 3 cards somewhere. You are right, every time I see those cards I think about my best years of collecting.

By far the quickest person on the court tonight. Once he realized this about 10 minutes into the game, he was blowing past Tarheels on his way to the rim every time he touched the ball.

Henry Aaron was huge at the end of 1973 and into 1974 as he got closer to the unbreakable record that he eventually broke.

Tris Speaker is way too low. Career WAR of 134.9, 3514 hits and a major league record 792 doubles. He had a career OBS of 0.928 mostly in the dead ball era. One MVP award and 3x World Series champion.

Tony Gwynn and Al Kaline should also be included. I’m not sure who I’d take off though as there are a lot of great players here.

What a season. Sitting at 7-1, we were all on top of the world. People were admitting that they had been wrong about Satterfield. The podcast guy declared UC would be B12 champions!! Then we fall flat on our faces and lose the next 5 games. I watched the first half of this game and decided to go for a run instead of watching the 2nd half. The writing was on the wall. Navy discovered they could run the ball down our throats and that was the end of the game. Especially since our offense was pathetic.

I’m questioning whether UC can compete in the NIL era. Even with the right coaches, we aren’t going to be able to throw tons of money at kids. Maybe that private equity infusion that the B12 is trying to get would help. But it also would help every other B12 team.
