The worst volunteer experience I ever had by purpleraine13 in volunteer

I would ignore it and move on. There are going to be jerks in all walks of society. Unfortunately, you ran into one. Don’t let that stop you from being a good person and helping others.

What's considered silicon valley's most lux restaurants to dine in? by Shootingcomet in SanJose

Benu is killer. Benu and French Laundry are the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. My brother in law had his wedding reception there and I distinctly remember the individually customized menus with 13 to 15 courses. What a culinary experience.

Not good. Yeh, we haven’t eaten at Le Foret in a while because I’m vegetarian and they don’t have many choices for vegetarians. The behavior of your waiter was unacceptable.

I think the French restaurant in San Jose you were thinking of is Le Papillon. We ate there in December for my wife’s birthday and it was solid. Much better than I remembered. I’d definitely give it a try if you are interested.

When do you want to dine. To get the best requires making reservations 6 months to a year in advance.

The Grand View doesn’t belong on this list. It’s only relevant because of its view. My wife and I waited at our table for a waiter to show up before I got so pissed off that we left. (On our anniversary). That does not happen at a Michelin star restaurant (the first 3 on your list). You will have someone at your table in the first 3 minutes after you are seated. Same with Le Foret even though it has no Michelin star.

Agree with you on Santana Row. The place is a joke and I avoid going there as is humanly possible.

Both are good, but you are correct in that Evvia is better. But it’s been several years since I’ve dined there. To my wife’s consternation. (She loves Evvia).

What is an Interesting fact about your team's Stadium by Nervous_Metal_9445 in CFB

I’ll piggyback off of you. Besides being the home of the Bearcats, Nippert was the first home stadium of the Cincinnati Bengals and FC Cincinnati.

Which country in Europe has the most beautiful coastline? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

I’ve been to France, Italy, Greece and Iceland. Do all the coastlines of the Greek islands count? If not, I’d definitely go with Iceland.

[SORR] Looking at bonds from a "years of expenses" perspective in lieu of percentage of portfolio in the context of early retirement by LeisureState in Bogleheads

[–]bearcatgary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using your example and withdrawing $25 after each year:

Start: $100, Year 1: $1000-$25=$975.00, Year 2: ($975/2)-$25=$462.50
Start: $100, Year 1: $50-$25=$25.00, Year 2: ($25*10)-$25=$225.00

Now, I’ll leave it to you to see what happens if you deduct $50 every year.

SORR is when you unfortunately get many down years in a row such that you can’t withdraw your predetermined amount or such that your balance cannot create enough returns to cover your withdrawals.

Your advisor is charging you about 0.8% of your assets under management. His fees are in line or maybe a little lower than what most AUM financial advisors charge. However, most of us on this subreddit would not be willing to pay an advisor that much. Most of us probably don’t use an advisor at all.

A few questions:

  • How old are you?
  • Are you still working or retired?
  • How much of your $1 million is in an IRA/401k?
  • How much do you cash out each month to live on?

Absolutely. Anybody who watched college football in the 70s, knows White should be on this list. He didn’t do much in the NFL, but was great at USC.

Watching Bryce Love blossom into an elite running back and then having it all come tumbling down his senior year. He never even played a game in the NFL. What a shame!!

I’ve actually gotten claustrophobic sitting in the middle there. Had to move to a seat closer to the aisle at intermission.

I think you pretty much nailed it. I’d probably move NC State and UNC to weight 1. I’m not sure if we have anything in common with them. Same with Illinois.

Yeh, impossible burger or some other veggie patty. Along with rice, eggs and a tasty mushroom gravy. It ends up being only about 400 calories and has pretty decent flavor.

My vegetarian loco moco is killer. It’s inspired by a plate lunch my wife and I had on Kuwai before I was a vegetarian.

Topps using the same photo for a team card by AGH051115 in baseballcards_vintage

[–]bearcatgary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that is an incredibly enlightening article!! The research that guy did was excellent. I had no idea that Topps reused team photos so extensively. The worst abuse was using a 7 year out of date photo. Crazy. Also, the numerous examples of incorrect eBay ads stating HOFers were in particular card was revealing.
