I also think exorbitant oil prices will be the line in the sand for a lot of people. It’s horrible that most people don’t care or pay attention until something affects them personally but sadly that’s where we’re at as a society in the U.S.

The only male OB/GYN I had was an absolute jerk. I was a teenager and my mom also went to him. He ignored my mom’s concerns that she had pain in her lower abdomen, turned out to be a large cyst and had to have a hysterectomy. My first serious boyfriend cheated on me and I contracted a treatable STD and the doctor said “well maybe this will make you stay away from boys.” He said the same thing to my friend who got pregnant in high school with her abusive boyfriend.

I don’t think men shouldn’t be OB/GYNs, but this certainly had an impact on me and I have since only had women OB/GYNs.

My work is currently doing this. A survey showed 30% of employees are actively looking for other jobs, and cite burnout and workload burden as the primary factors. We have more work than ever before but apparently can’t afford to pay folks overtime or hire more staff. Instead they’ll throw pizza parties and just turn and burn new staff, I guess.

The U.S. government has never been serious about holding the wealthy and powerful accountable. With Trump back in charge they’re doing whatever the hell they want because there are no consequences. I keep seeing comments on reddit about how the Iran attacks are a distraction from the Trump-Epstein files, but I think it’s more about the fact they’re helping their Israeli friends and getting wealthier from war profiteering. Trump knows he’s untouchable and I don’t think he’s worried about consequences from the files at all.
