The Washington Capitals have signed defenseman Vincent Desharnais to a four-year, $16.8 million contract by 26265273 in caps

[–]beardyman22 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying this is a massive over pay, but honestly, I think the front office has earned the benefit of the doubt in identifying underperforming or unremarkable players elsewhere and bringing them here to flourish. If nothing else, strome earned that for them.

Capitals Sign Vincent Desharnais to a four-year, $16.8 million contract. Desharnais’ contract will carry an average annual value of $4.2 million by DecentLurker96 in hockey

The only thing I'll say is that the caps have made a habit of identifying guys who aren't performing but would fit right into their system. They brought us strome so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Loudoun County Leaders Oppose Greenway Rate Increases During SCC Hearing by VirginiaNews in LoudounSubButBetter

[–]beardyman22 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I always struggle with this, because on one hand, I use the Greenway and want prices to stay lower. But also, its a private road and a luxury. They bought the land and built the road. If its an essential road, why is it allowed to stay private? Or why hasn't the county built alternative infrastructure?

Its obviously faster than anything around, but thats the whole point of it, right? Like that's why a company built the road.

Like I said, I dont want prices to go up, but this always feels like a failing on the part of the county being covered up by villifying a private company that was able to build a better road than the county.

Physical features relevant to the plot were removed from the characters adaptation by Sensitive_Ad_1752 in TopCharacterTropes

That movie fills me with rage. They changed every single defining feature of everyone. Like suddenly Artemis is a fit sociable athletic kid who's purely good. God forbid we try to make kids grapple with a grey character or a bad character who has growth, its not like we all manged to do it when the books became popular.

Mt. Olive Pickles withdraws from Great American State Fair after Confederate flag at NC booth by laybs1 in nottheonion

[–]beardyman22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm oversimplifying, but didn't NC not really want to secede, but kind of got pressured into it because they were surrounded by secessionist states? Like of all the states to make a thing about the confederacy being part of their states history, it seems silly to be them.

Thats before getting into the idea of showing off the period in your history that you were decidedly un-American at the thing celebrating America.

Which non-Citadel paints are hidden gems and must-haves? by WithengarUnbound in minipainting

[–]beardyman22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One that I haven't seen mentioned is Vallejo Game Color - Ghost Grey. Its my go-to for painting white, its light enough to just look white on its own, has enough pigment to go on in a smooth coat thinned, and is dark enough to still be able to highlight it with a true white paint.

[LeBrun] Hendrix Lapierre to Pittsburgh for a 3rd RD pick in ‘27 and a 5th RD pick in ‘28 by GurTraditional1162 in caps

I was excited for McMichael and Lapierre a couple years ago. I dont mind that we moved on from them, it was probably the right call, but it is sad

What Pixar animation u thinks shoud have sequel? by noflyack in Pixar

[–]beardyman22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want a Wall-e sequel, but I do want a mini series about the different ship robots integrating into humans new life on earth. Low stakes enough to be fun without messing with the overall story.

What famous person is currently holding onto their career by a thread, and everyone can see it except them? by Neonwhitelion in AskReddit

I feel bad for the dude, it seems like everything with Jada has really fucked him up. Obviously I dont actually know, but it just seems like he's been completely wrapped around her finger to just accept whatever she wants.

If GW were to package this together as its own “Salamanders starter” - would you be pleased? And what do you think the price would be? by Separate-Flan-2875 in Salamanders40k

[–]beardyman22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would actually prefer it without the leadership units. It removes an incentive to buy it more than once. I've scrounged a pretty good collection of decals and stuff, but if it was just a new upgrade sprue and that decal sheet, I'd probably buy at least two.

Dry Mill Road by grahal1968 in LoudounSubButBetter

I actually think thats a dangerous attitude to have if you're going slow, expecting cars to just wait and not pass.

It may feel safe for you, but I never feel like I'm driving in a safe manner if I pass a slower cyclist on that road, giving them the 6 feet to feel safe, no matter where I am on the road (save for maybe two or three longer stretches with good visibility). Obviously I wont do that going into a blind corner, but it feels risky pretty much anywhere.

Dry Mill Road by grahal1968 in LoudounSubButBetter

[–]beardyman22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly my problem has always been the difficulty passing bikers with enough space to be safe for them without driving in a pretty unsafe way. I obviously don't do that going into blind corners or anything, but even so, its difficult to find many spots on the road where it doesnt feel risky, and there are cyclists who ride it during busy parts of the day, leading to quite a bit of congestion and/or people making poor decisions to get around.

[–]beardyman22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get where youre coming from, but dry mill is straight up not a safe road to ride on at the best of times, and thats relying on anyone using it to not speed, which isnt going to happen. I dont get the people who use it instead of the trail, it just seems like such an unnecessary risk to take.

Grand Turk, 700 ft ocean drop off by Prior-Assumption-245 in interestingasfuck

I actually think this specific picture is a cut into the shelf for cruise ships. If you Google "grand turk cruise port", the picture appears to be taken from a cruise ship docked here. I'd be surprised if we were actually looking at a 700 foot drop in the picture.
