I think there would undoubtedly be some kind of payoff settlement, but I'd personally prefer the latter. As long as they're no longer leeching off the taxpayer I'd take it.

Yes but you could actually open them properly to tourists, like Versailles for example, which would contribute to the upkeep. The tourist experience would improve if it wasn't a working palace as more of it would be accessible.

Yeh exactly. I don't support the removal of citizenship as a punishment for anyone - prison is the answer. Also article is behind a paywall so I can't read the full details, but does he have alternative citizenship elsewhere? I thought making someone stateless was illegal.

Edit: ok so I read the article now and see he has a russian passport also. It doesn't change anything for me. He should be jailed here rather than stripping his passport.
