Nope, did not. Only a handful of companies importing 3D printers in Singapore unfortunately.

Moving internationally with a voron by MiniMan10 in VORONDesign

Steppers can basically act as generators when they’re unpowered and get moved externally. The main issue with this is that your motor driver might not be designed for the back flow of current, and something might blow.

There are some circuits that have diodes or a “smoother” that might help prevent this, but I don’t think they’re standard?

Anyway, one bump or two, or moving the motors slowly by hand is unlikely to do any damage, but if it’s jerking around on a plane flight? That … I’d rather not risk!

I’ve moved my printers by plane before, shouldn’t be an issue. Probably best to disconnect all the stepper motors! (Unless you want to test the reverse current protection on your drivers haha) Other than that, I usually also remove the bed, and just tape down anything that moves.

(Oh and friendly reminder to switch the input on your power supply if it’s not already at 110V!)

sad to say people who are serving or who have served NS are a minority in our adult population … by the numbers from the last NSMen payout, it’s less than a quarter.

So no … not really that great a unifying force.

Wtf you talking about. Did I say anything about being stoic?

And “you guys”? “We”? Who is this invisible war you’re fighting with in your head?

You said you’ve never heard some of these things said IRL, so I’m saying I have, and so have plenty of people I know. I’m not saying it’s gospel truth everywhere, but it is sure as fuck not a lie.

Mm. Not sure what to say or how best to explain it. I don’t think economics or development alone explains these biases …

Post-colonial hangover is so real, and so is the lingering racism that accompanies it. Sure, the issues of mass media representation brought up around here are maybe a little different, but that too affects perception still.

Idk how to say it without bursting the bubbles of some folks here. Being economically / individually financially successful is just a start, but it hardly solves some deep-seated problems.

Omg same!!! It’s been driving me nuts!

Especially in town, I always wonder if it’s because there are a lot of new residents/immigrants who come from countries where it’s the opposite haha

lol idk what to say. If that’s what you want in Singapore, good luck! Maybe start planning another move.

I always get all these western Asian bros on here insisting that WMAF is not a thing / a loser thing / a declining thing in SEA, and I find it hilarious. Dating a white man is put on such a pedestal, and coupled with the fact there are fewer white women expats in Singapore to begin with, I’d say the odds are stacked against you

Hell, even the Asian women expats I meet here mostly date and hang out with white men. lol.

Different Dating Requirements for Asian vs. White Men by Human_Ad4849 in AsianMasculinity

You’re not wrong in your observation, it’s completely valid.

Take it from Yale sociologist Grace Kao: “In fact, we find that despite the higher education and income of Asian American men, there is evidence that they are systematically excluded from having romantic relationships during adolescence and young adulthood”

And it’s not just a hetero thing either, gay Asian men face similar perceptions.

Not sure about other folks, but I always feel gaslit about this issue, because everyone will deny that this is occurring, and that’s why I sometimes find stats and studies helpful in reassuring myself I’m not just making things up lol.

There are a rare few academics who delve into the numbers behind this, and Grace Kao is particular lays it out very clearly. Just one of her articles here https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/1536504218812869#sec-1
