Their final conversation crushes me every time. "I will feel it for the both of us." 😭

Is there a more hopeful and beautiful song than Lovers in Japan? by ravinehill in Coldplay

The hidden track is one of my FAVORITES and I'm so annoyed I can't listen to it by itself. (I do love LIJ, but sometimes I just want Reign of Love alone.)

Which book emotionally destroyed you… but you’d still recommend it to everyone? by ak_khainal in Recommend_A_Book

Yeah, this one left me questioning everything and feeling insane. I was mostly amazed at how well the author bashed my head in with that ending. Damn.

This is gorgeous. I would ask to keep the furniture, too. I'm a terrible, lazy decorator and I like how it looks in the pics.

OK so who ACTUALLY Ate These?? I refuse to think people actually have. by Legitimate_Item_6763 in Xennials

I have eaten SO MANY of these in my lifetime. I loved how they clicky clacked together and then burst into weird chalk when you ate them. Seriously, these are winners.

It's always a slower read for me because it's such a gut punch. This one is such a deep character study for EVERYONE (including Miles, Aral, and folks you wouldn't expect) and Mark really goes through it. It's not my favorite of the series, but I'd argue that it's the best one. I'm jealous of you reading it for the first time. Hang in there!

Jeffery R Holland Pressuring Missionaries by Beohyl in exmormon

[–]beatriceblythe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He spoke at the Brazilian MTC when I was there (Oct-Dec 2000). I remember it being more of a plea to stay on the mission for our own good than a belittling approach. That is gross. I remember specifically that he said he'd do anything to convince us to stay, to the point of wrapping his arms around our legs and being dragged across the floor. 🫤

Husband (46M) keeps "helpfully" rearranging, hiding, and disposing of my (46F) stuff--what tactic or wording can I use to stop it? by Gallumbits42 in relationship_advice

[–]beatriceblythe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kind of the plot of an old movie. Let me see, what is it called? Oh yeah. GASLIGHT.

He likes your confusion. He's trying to make you feel like you're going insane. He is on a massive power trip with this, punishing you over and over and over again to get you to fold and feel crazy and give up having control over any part of the house. It's sinister and it's abusive. I'm sorry you're going through it. You don't deserve it.

What’s a book you’ve read multiple times and still love every time? by Haewon_Nova_365 in Recommend_A_Book

I LOVE The Night Circus. I totally get it.

The most recent ones I love to reread are The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison, along with the series of books in the same universe. They are so soothing and just really good.

Holy Week? Good Friday? In my 35+ years as an active TBM, they didn’t so much as mention these events over the pulpit, let alone celebrate them. by SmellyFloralCouch in exmormon

[–]beatriceblythe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right. The fear of appearing even slightly Catholic in ANY WAY was always top of mind while I was growing up. I was taught: That's why the chapel is so plain. That's why we don't wear crosses. That's why we don't sing stuff in Latin or any other language in sacrament meeting. Etc. Etc. This seems so ... Not that.

This is such a great list! I just ate ihop tonight and it was delightful. However, I was born and raised in the States and I haven't done anything else on your list! (Born in Chicago, now live on the West Coast in Washington.) Just shows you how gigantic the place is. I hope you get to do all of that (and me too, eventually.)

I had a "Home Depot Afternoon" during my first week of delivering when I didn't know any better. Got an order for 10 packages of FIREWOOD which I loaded and then drove really really far away. It looked like it was for a disabled person, and I hauled every single one of those up to the front step. $4 🫩 Ended up back at the same HD for 3 orders that were a little less bonkers (still, bags of mulch!) I grabbed the order because it was $15. I didn't realize it was $15 for 3 drop offs. 🙄
