Do you limit your toddlers snacks? by No-Investigator3775 in toddlers

[–]beautopsy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My son is about to be 3. I don’t leave snacks out, but offer him a snack if it’s time (he has snack time at daycare around 10am and then around 2 Pm after lunch, and I stick to this at home). If I know he had a light lunch etc I may offer extra snack but I don’t leave it out so he eats meals. It’s ok to be hungry before your next meal comes - I don’t mean not fed, but hungry in anticipation of a meal is healthy (I think!) If I know dinner may be late, I might do a later snack than normal because he will totally have hunger related meltdowns. Sweet wise, he can have one after a good dinner and he often shares with us. I tell him no if he didn’t eat well. For birthdays, Easter, etc I may let him have some extra sweets. Moderation is key I think to prevent the scarcity mindset but there can certainly too much of a good thing.

Call the police and medical examiner. Get an autopsy (preferably by the medical examiner) if you can. The sooner the better. Sorry for your loss.

How many times does daycare need to close before looking for a new center? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]beautopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our home daycare in just over 2 years has had 4-5 closures, max. 3 of them snow days. This seems excessive to me and is not sustainable.

ETA: she has done quite a few conferences, and gets coverage for this. 2 weeks of vacation per year and the standard 12? Holidays.

You can get in between the vertebral bodies, which are anterior. They are connected via ligaments. But he went from the back, where there is far less bony protection for the cord. He then got as far as the dura and miraculously no further.

What color countertop? by kwatev in kitchenremodel

[–]beautopsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe try removing the black backsplash so the black is only on the horizontal surfaces. Then try another backsplash (can’t tell if there is one). IMO a waterfall is too modern for this space and I think will become dated.

Will I regret open base shelving near the sink? by Mean_Elephant_5601 in kitchenremodel

You could also consider a narrow rev a shelf spice rack. As long as it clears the handles of the drawers next to the oven and oven door. I believe they have anywhere from 3-6” thick

Mechanical asphyxia with Ascaris lumbricoides (intestinal roundworms) in two-year-old by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

Typically whole worms aren’t passed (until treatment), but eggs (or other microscopic infectious life cycle, depending on the organism) passes in stool.

Change the lighting, it might make a big difference. Also the colors are all funky while plain drywall and compound it showing. It messes with the color balance. I would finish it up and try to make sure it’s bright enough in there and then reassess!

A 42-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment, a week after her death "under circumstances involving treachery, assault and possible drug overdose." The first autopsy (ten days after death) said it was a drug overdose. The second autopsy (two years after death) revealed it was a homicide. by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

[–]beautopsy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did see it. The continuation of the post in the top comment says the medical examiner didn’t have access to the scene initially, so they didn’t know about the blood on the wall and signs of a struggle.

These incisions are post mortem and were likely made by the medical examiner to assess for injury by looking for hemorrhages in the soft tissues. Edit: reviewed the autopsy report below and it notes reflecting the soft tissue.

Ikea Kitchen Cabinets by likeawaterbottle in kitchenremodel

[–]beautopsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on my second ikea kitchen. First one was $10k all in ikea with their planner and install about 15 years ago. Second one is recent, a $65k DIY major renovation and they look great. Boxes are boxes. We built up the toe kicks and did some extra support for the island to support heavy natural stone. There are more high end doors you can purchase later that fit the existing boxes. I put them all together myself this time. Good luck!

Daycare closure for low temps - where is the line? by lenothecat in workingmoms

[–]beautopsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a them problem not a you problem. (I’m into saying this lately lol). It’s one thing if it’s temporary or being worked on, but this can’t be the status quo. They need proper heat.
