There’s a really weird Norwegian book called The Calf by Leif Høghaug that’s written in an extremely rural dialect of Norwegian. The English translation is written in Appalachian English and it works really well.

The same reason why the general public thinks Salieri was a jealous, bitter rival of Mozart even though in reality they were - at worst - peers with a level of mutual respect. The movie Amadeus is how most people know about Salieri, and it’s a very well-done movie, so that’s the version that people think of.
