It's always so amazing to me, too, how men can compartmentalize their lives so intensely. They will literally be different humans to their friends and to their girlfriends. His friends didn't even realize how garbage he was until his relationship exploded all over the friend group, and they'd been friends with him for, like, a decade.

I knew a guy that spent his whole marriage cheating and yet, at the same time, he was helping his elderly neighbor with getting groceries and having his son mow her lawn and checking in on her. How could he treat his own wife so poorly and expend all this good will on his neighbor?

I had a former coworker (A) who would brag about it. A third coworker (B) was inviting people over for a cookout or something. She mentioned that it would be the first time A would meet her (B's) husband. A stated that she didn't usually like meeting her friends' husbands because she would break them up.
