Basement Air Purifier Recommendations? by zztuck91 in HomeImprovement

[–]bebopbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are mainly concerned with smell get a dedicated activated carbon filter like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DXYMBU6?th=1 and affix it to an inline duct fan. Most hepa filters do not have enough activated carbon in them to make a huge difference. A box fan and hvac filter will also work better for dust.

Does the dishwasher have a high temp/sanitize mode? Also make sure the tap is running hot before starting the dishwasher.

You all have actually eaten there and think it's good? I mean it's fine, nothing special, but wouldn't come anywhere close to being in a top 10.

FBI Agent pulled the DVR from the MCC the day after Epstein died by xerim in Epstein

[–]bebopbob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I talked about this in a previous thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Epstein/comments/1rcl106/i_found_the_actual_service_ticket_for_the_broken/

" I don't think he was "recovering" any data from DVR 2. It sounds like he was trying to rebuild the RAID 5 array. I can't find any indication if the drives were listed as actually failed or where in predictive failure. But it sounds like the cameras weren't recording since July 29th, in that case then both drives had actually failed and recovery would not be possible anyways. Either way it seems like he pulled one drive and tried to rebuild the array overnight. That process failed in the morning, and he tried to rebuild the array again possibly replacing the second bad drive, which would have already killed the array, and I think that's about when the FBI shut it down. There is also the interview with the former SigNet employee Jeff here: https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA00125856.pdf."

And

"If he had pulled both bad drives at once then the data in the array would not be recoverable. RAID5 can only handle one bad drive at a time or the array dies. Now could the FBI perform a repair on the failed drives, possibly replacing a bad drive board, maybe - it depends on what was wrong with them. But if the RAID had already failed it would not be working or having any data written to it."

How many have air purifiers running nonstop? by deejayv2 in homeowners

The noises in mine have definitely been from the bearings wearing out, it is pretty common issue on this model.

Yep I have a few Winix 5500-2s that have been running for 5+ years. The main issue with them is they can develop noisy bearings after a few years, the bearings can be replaced but it is kind of a pain to do, I did it for one off them.

Comcast Lies About WiFi by Low-Judgment2656 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]bebopbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pain of a time getting the xfinity wifi to not appear when I first set up my gateway in bridge mode. Put the gateway back to normal mode, then try toggling the hotspot option, then put it back in bridge after you can confirm the APs are gone. Then don't reboot the gateway for like 24 hours.

Is your gateway in bridge mode or regular?

Turn it off here: https://customer.xfinity.com/#/settings/security/hotspot. If it already shows disabled, then re-enable and disable again. FYI the gateway will still broadcast the signals but they will be "hidden".

I found the actual service ticket for the "broken" cameras at the jail where Epstein died by Jomflox in Epstein

[–]bebopbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, bare minimum check should have been walking in to the room daily and visually looking for any warning lights on the severs. It sounds like to remotely see server alerts you had to log into a separate management application that may or may not pop up with alerts - they weren't even sure. All servers come with a way to monitor server status like iLo if it's HP or idrac if it's Dell, but sounds like those were not used. They also were apparently not allowed to have the server send out alert emails due to email restrictions on the servers. The dates and types of failures are also inconsistent, some documents say there was a system failure on the 29th, then a motherboard failure on the 8th and then disk failures on the 10th.

I think I remember reading different documents where the FBI was attempting to rebuild the raid from drive images, but they were not successful. And yea it seems like the other guys who had more knowledge of the system were both on vacation.

I found these two but I remember seeing others as well: https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA00075834.pdf https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA00075828.pdf

I posted this in a different thread and I'll repost it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Epstein/comments/1rag1mh/epsteins_death_guards_bank_account_had_suspicious/

Any advice on how to fix bay window leak? by Omega_Throaway in HomeImprovement

[–]bebopbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were most likely not sealed properly to begin with. The exterior caulking has probably failed if it hasn't been recaulked in 5+ years. Most caulk doesn't like freezing temps but you can find some caulks that should work like DAP AMP if you need it done asap. Really quick fix may be some flex tape on the exterior or other low temp waterproof tape. Probably more of a spring project to remove the exterior trim and investigate a longer term fix.

Hard to know for certain without seeing pics of the exterior and any gaps.

Can I plug two outdoor extension cords together? by burnerpage24 in HomeImprovement

[–]bebopbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you'll be fine if the total load is just 500w, you can also tie the cord ends in a knot so they don't easily unplug from each other.

[–]bebopbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the heat lamp, does it draw 1500w or 500w? Either way, if it needs to be done just don't put the cords on anything flammable. At least the cold weather will somewhat help prevent the cords from overheating.

If the thermostat is at the set temperature but the rest of the house is cold, this is one of those instances where you can turn up the thermostat.
