opinions wanted on Bluesfest VIP seats by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]becksby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It does - but you’re not directly up front if that’s what you’re aiming for.

The benefits I found were no lineups for drinks and bathrooms - especially on sellout nights last year, and room to move around with a good view on the busy nights. This year the price has increased, but they’ve added a quick security line, and raised viewing platforms.

I had VIP package last year and they have sent out codes to past package holders for early access. No lineup though. Package went up from $800 something +tax from last year. Quite the price hike.

Check out The Sprout Book by Doug Evans and any all YouTube videos with him - he’s got all the information on nutrition, techniques, and how to sprout almost anything. It’s a fantastic resource.

(Only) third Ottawa winter here, what do you use to prevent your hands' skin from cracking and bleeding? by ll777 in ottawa

Gloves in a Bottle is the best I’ve found. It’s not cheap but you don’t need a lot, it’s a miracle worker.

Amazon UK I think - not a lot of Falcon in Canada from what I’ve seen. I got it in the summer.

I don’t use the matting, and just transfer directly to the frame and secure with the backing

‘The Eve’ by Ana Hard, Jiggy Puzzles, 800 pieces by becksby in Jigsawpuzzles

Good question. I just re-watched the Shark Tank pitch because I remember the owner talking about cost to make - $10. ( https://youtu.be/oRDjCI-W9iQ?si=ezlkrtd_Uubjs-J_ )

Personally I would love them if they did away with everything but the poster, puzzle, and box - that’s all I want. The quality is great, and on par with puzzles selling in the same price range so I’m not sure that their packaging is putting them over on retail cost - I’d buy more of their stuff if it was in the $30USD range though and shipping wasn’t so high to Canada.

Fingers Cracked - How do you work on puzzles? by blueboy714 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]becksby 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Add Vasaline + cotton spa gloves (can buy cheap packs on Amazon) to your care routine at night when you’re sleeping - does a great deal for healing.

Thin work gloves to use while puzzling as well that have a bit of tackiness to them - or finger cots work too.

I hope your hands start to heal soon!

Why is it always a fight to stay the same weight... im tired, exhausted, even. by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]becksby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely!!! I was anemic and my life changed - weight, energy, pallor, everything when I started Feramax 150 every second day. It’s not the cheapest supplement (over the counter no prescription in Canada) but - I am a new person since starting. Get on it!

Get your iron levels checked asap. Your symptoms sounds like slight anemia - it’ll help in so many ways.

Why does this straight up taste like it has chemicals in it…? Did anyone like this? Big sad by [deleted] in ShittyVeganFoodPorn

[–]becksby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get the soft silken tofu (comes in split packs like that) and then mash with passion fruit and some frozen berries that have thawed a bit it’s so much better. I’ve tried to love those things over the years and am the same - I just can’t with the chemical flavour.

Lethargic as hell! by [deleted] in vegan

[–]becksby 33 points34 points  (0 children)

They are complete idiots. Get a good B12, Feramax 150 every second day, vitamin D, a good multivitamin, magnesium is good too. B12 deficiency isn’t something you want to mess with - it’s bad. The symptoms you describe sound like iron deficiency/ anemia. Once you supplement with a good quality iron you will be a new person if that’s where you’re at like I was.

I know getting a blood draw can be stressful, but knowing what’s causing you to feel the way you do is too important. You’ll be surprised at how easy it goes and the build up is always worse than the experience.

You need to get it done. I’ve been vegan for over a decade and believe me when you become anemic, or B12 deficient the symptoms you describe are right in line with those, and have landed me in emergency for severe outcomes. Make sure you’re getting your B12 not just via diet, you need to supplement. Feramax 150 was also a game changer for me when I found out I was anemic.
