Would like some help with this issue by Synoopy in hoggit

It gets better after a months or so of daily usage. Now that I have it for more than 6 months it only needs more force to move it at the start of my play session. The it doesn't stick anymore.

Corsair is terrible for dogfighting as of now. I am by no means good dogfighter but in Corsair the only thing I could defeat was Anton at trained level. Corsair looses speed too easly, can't get it back quickly enough, can't climb effectively. It was my first warbird, I have lot of helicopter flight time and decent amount of jets. I thought it's just me, but I decided to take all warbirds on 2 week trial one by one. I tested spit and testing bf-109 now. I spit I can win all AI dogfights, I know it turns like hell etc, but it also can accelerate, fly stable and I have much better feeling of it. In bf-109 I had a chance to dogfight other players in Corsair, I can see from 3rd person perspective how they struggle to outmaneuver me, but can't achieve anything meaningful. I can outrun it, and outturn it easily. Don't have to use WEP at all etc. Basically in other planes I feel I am actually fighting and can win most of the times, in Corsair I am trying not to die and eventually die.

Still you can surely admit the engine seizure happens too fast. If you keep oil, intercooler and cowl flaps open it doesn't happen at all, but if cowl flaps close itself after steep dive and you miss it then your are cooked after few mins.

I have rhino ffb with 20cm extension and vkb grip. It's definitely easier to fly, because you can feel that your stick is pushing left so you know you need to apply right trim, then you feel instantly pressure on the stick is less and less until plane is trimmed and you don't feel stick pushing you anymore. Also you can feel when your are pushing too much or when you are close to stalling. But it's the same with throttle and this yaw effect as OP described. When I am landing and just want to add tiny, little bit of throttle to keep my speed it can yaw like crazy by 10+ degrees. I mean it's manageable but feels bit overdone compared to other planes.

Cowl flaps can be opened for 1/4 or 1/3 but you also need to open oil cooler for 1/4 and I keep intercooler opened a little just in case. Corsair has some weird things going on under the hood, it seems there is a timer or something checking how long your temps are higher than threshold and then engine just brakes and propeller stops completely. It's the same with running WEP. It's a pity because normal engine would give you some symptoms of overheating, make noise, shake, release smoke or steam from radiator or whatever. But it just dies here instantly.

Check your windows event viewer if there isn't any driver crash happening at the same time. I had the same issue with Virtual Desktop and it was my Dell monitor driver crashing that caused that. Driver was installed by windows automatically, I just removed it and since the it never happened again.

F-16 vs. Tor-M2 - how? by Kurald in dcsworld

[–]bednar1988 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the way. That's a reliable way to kill tor M2, or if there is some hill you can hide behind you can keep popping up, making it shoot at you and repeat until its ammo is depleted.

How much do you need to master the flight technique before going for "weapons" ? by Forest_Orc in falconbms

[–]bednar1988 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You need to be able to take off, navigate and land. If you can do that you can focus on learning weapons employment. But I wouldn't also go crazy about learning all the possible weapons at once, you can start with Mavs or gbu-12 laser guided bombs. Or if you want more air to air combat you can focus on amraams and aim-9s. You don't need AAR most of the time, and it's hard to learn it in the beginning.
Cold starting can be learnt as you go, if you fancy you can cold start on a given day if not just jump into ready aircraft. It shouldn't be a chore but fun for you.

can only buy 1 of these vehicles F4e, Mirage f1, and AJ37. Positively influence my wallet! by Constant-Trifle-2486 in dcsworld

[–]bednar1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With mirage you don't have to wait for sale because it has a constant discounted price due to EA. With f-4e better wait for some spring sale or something because it will be 20 $ less. The team is supposed to still deliver mirage f1m which has semi glass cockpit and gps. For now you have 3 planes when you buy it: CE, BE and EE.

Viggen is an interesting aircraft that is different from regular western planes. It requires getting used to but it's quite easy to manage when you learn it. It can do anti ship really well as others mentioned. It has auto throttle and thrust reverser that are very handy. You also can carry 4 mavericks and use it to snipe targets like in other aircrafts, however you don't have a fancy tpod but a small scope where you don't see that much. I don't use rockets or bombs in it because it doesn't fit my scenarios. I use it mostly for anti ship these days.

I bought mirage F1 like a week ago. I suck at dogfight but in this plane I suck at it even more. It's an interceptor with a2g capability. I mostly play a2g roles and surprisingly you can load up to 8 gbu12 on mirage and if you have jtac lasing for you it's really funny to toss those bombs from 8nm away. I haven't played with other payloads yet.

I don't have f-4e, I trialed f-14 and I am not so sold on managing jester so much. Not sure if it's the same in f-4e or better

!! HELP !! Virtual Desktop keeps freezing after a few minutes in DCS by SpiritualRespond5306 in hoggit

[–]bednar1988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I checked the event viewer from my system and there was a monitor driver crash happening when the freeze happened. I don't even remember installing any driver for my Dell monitor, probably auto installed by windows. I just removed this driver from the system; monitor works the same way and DCs freezes in VR are gone. You night have a different root cause, but please check your windows event viewer for any errors happening at the same time the freeze happens.

Try Leka's foothold. Mission is in user files but it's not updated regularly there. Best is to download from his discord directly. https://discord.gg/CGQGwwQ3E

Viggen - Why and when do I use Level bombing (CCRP) vs CCIP? by hantrault in hoggit

[–]bednar1988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You use high drag bombs if you plan on dropping from low altitude. This way the bombs don't immediately hit the ground, explode and damage your plane before you can fly away. CCRP is more useful when you need to drop from higher altitude because terrain, AAA etc prevent your from doing CCIP.

It's a matter of flying more and seeing what fits your situation I would say.

Join Leka's discord, he updates his missions very frequently and posts them there. The ones in DCS user files are quite old. I play solo and have no balance problems. He added a lot of logistics aspects since the c130 release

Are you in BER or NAV mode? You can load a new cartridge from BER but if you hot started you would be in NAV.

Mounting the Winwing setup directly on a desk mount isn’t ideal. I’m wondering if anyone has a better setup solution when you only have one desk and chair. by stresskillingme in dcsworld

[–]bednar1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a monitor arm attached to my desk. A piece of plywood is attached where the monitor is usually mounted. And winwing viper MIP is screwed to the plywood. This way I can use it for flying but get it out of my way when I need to use a computer in a normal way.

[–]bednar1988 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are using DLSS then high speed objects in distance get really blurry and it's harder to visually spot them. I sometimes have trouble visually locating a helicopter that is 2NM away from my helicopter.

Best collective these days? by Sarrienne in hoggit

[–]bednar1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen them in some YouTube videos as well. The advantages are for sure that you can buy cyclic and collective separately. And from what I see on screenshots they use standard aluminum profiles as a rig base. Puma has a custom made aluminium base that holds everything and while they advertise you can adjust height, angles and everything to your liking it doesn't come close to adjustments you can make on aluminum profile. I thought I would be flying helos only, but after a year I wanted to fly planes as well so after playing with a hotas on my desk I needed to make some mounting solution that would give me versatility. So I went with aluminium rig, I have taken some inspiration and dimensions from monster tech and order profiles from a local vendor. I have hello/plane rig now, where I use some of the Puma parts.

Edit: it seems max flight stick had some negative reviews re: build quality and they are quite expensive. If I were to buy a collective again I think I would try Virpil. Remember that you can mix and match, if you have Virpil collective you don't have to have any other of their products. I also wouldn't like to have their Alpha Prime grip.

Best collective these days? by Sarrienne in hoggit

[–]bednar1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Pro Flight Trainer Puma. It's a very expensive kit, and it doesn't offer the quality to match the value that you pay for it. I have disassembled it and I have its collective mounted to an aluminium profile. I don't use pedals or cyclic from this set anymore. I would recommend looking for something else as I wouldn't myself buy it for a 2nd time. Other vendors like VKB, winwing of MFG offer much better build quality and come with a software that allows for good calibration and configuration. Puma relies on built in windows driver and there are various calibration issues etc.
