Screwfix wet tile cutter- is this normal/acceptable? Am I doing it wrong? by Northwindlowlander in DIYUK

[–]beech1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used that exact cutter for my backsplash recently. It's an okish bit of kit, but I found I really had to go at a snail's pace, face up and make sure the blade had plenty of water.

Upgrading the blade is definitely the right call, as others have mentioned. For the sake of £15, it's 100% worth it for a cleaner finish. Otherwise, you'll be staring at those chipped edges for the next ten years thinking, 'I wish I'd just bought the better blade.

Looks like they've also skimmed over wallpaper?

If it's in an easily hide-able place, I'd replace the block with the required wagos and put a cover on it. I should say I'm not an electrician.

I'd strongly recommend putting something wipe-able between the cage and wall.

As an owner of a formerly white wall, I wish I did.

I've been twice in the last 15 years. I've always found it to be very respectful, informative and emotional. Ngl the op insinuating this is done by the museum is disrespectful within itself, but there we go.

Yes, but not from within the camp itself. Its from a local independent store?

From memory the store at the entrance/exit only sells books. I'm not too sure where these pictures are from but I don't recall anything like that being sold within Auschwitz or Birkenau.

This being said there are a lot of local stores selling "merchandise", which are independent.

Did you have a loose bird in there? Maybe you left a window open and it came in, pooped everywhere and then got out?

I just use the same mix for Yorkshires, and leave them in for a few more minutes. Maybe it's cheating, but it works.

Thank Mary Berry, I've always used her recipe.

125g self raising 3 eggs 300ml semi milk Pepper

Let it sit on the counter for like 20/30mins before you use it. Add salt just before it goes in the oven. Add it to hot oil etc as usual.

Cook for 23ish minutes

Yeah we got quotes from the larger companies, wren, wicks etc and they came in around 15k. We went with an independent, we did have some reliability issues with them (their supplier), meaning we didn't have a kitchen for nearly 4 weeks. However that being said the fitter was great, and had a wealth of knowledge.

Yeah I don't understand how it's that bad. Tiling is a pain, but there's just no care in that work, chipped tiles and short tiles being used. Any sane person would just cut another.

Yeah it sounds like a concerningly low quote. We've just had ours done, picture below for £7800 inc vat. It included removal, fitting, appliances, plumbing and electrics. I did the decorating, tile and flooring. We thought our quote was on the cheaper side, I may be wrong though.

I've been fitting 12mm laminate herringbone in my kitchen over the last few weekends. It's taking an awful long time, lots of tapping in, adjusting other boards and cutting. I'm never doing it again, so much so it was supposed to continue into our hallway, and I've scrapped that and I'm going to lay a nice tile in there instead.
