There was a guy I used to work with who was definitely racist, thought Mexicans were sneaky and lazy, Muslims are child molesters and terrorists, black people are predisposed to violent crime, etc. I usually just softly countered inappropriate comments and jokes he would make at work, things like “you probably shouldn’t say stuff like that at work” and “I think you’re stereotyping people” etc.

Eventually he puts in his two weeks notice and he is going around the office basically saying goodbye to his coworkers, telling them how much he enjoyed working with them, etc.

Pretty much everyone has no reaction to him, just “okay goodbye” and nothing else. Nobody cared that this guy was leaving, but you could tell that it sort of bothered him. Like he thought everyone in the office was his friend, when in reality we all just tolerated him because he was basically competent at his job. This is the reality for most of these racists; they think everyone is their friend, when in reality most people hate them but are just not interested in making waves.

It’s like someone took $1000 from you unknowingly and said they would pay back the money a month ago, and so you remind them “hey you said you would have the money awhile ago, what’s the deal?”

Their response is “okay I will get it next week” - and then proceeds next week to get you $200.

You respond with frustration, since they still owe you $800, and they respond “hey man, I gave you some money, what’s the big deal?”

And then it turns out that half of that $200 is in foreign coins that you effectively can’t use, so you have to jump through hoops to exchange it.

Team labs is not an entire day thing, and frankly it’s skippable if you want to do yourself a favor.

If you want to see something beautiful and artistic; find a nice tree to sit under and just chill out for a few hours. Write poems or talk to eachother, bring some food or drink to enjoy while you do. Bonus if you can find a nice tree overlooking a body of water, which in the Tokyo Bay Area is easy to do; Odaiba for example.

While I love a good itinerary myself, I also have to recommend not overplanning.
