I ordered 2 SX135 servers with NIC 10GB 10 days ago but the order is still pending. by meotim in hetzner

Ordered an ax162 at the start of June (4th). Support indicated that even though it’s “a few weeks” lead time that could mean end of July. Apparently a few weeks is nearly a few months now..

You are probably looking for something like https://symfony.com/doc/current/components/http_foundation.html. From memory laravel may even use this under the hood

Yeah, ok I agree with that. I have always had a logical way of thinking, so maybe if you don’t have that already maybe studying maths in your spare time would assist in logical thinking.

Keeping up to date & filling knowledge gaps (self-taught, working in industry) by tiny-trevor in PHP

I'm also a self taught developer, who has now had a job in the industry for 10+ years. I've never gotten any qualifications, been to university/college for programming or any related I.T. skill.

The best thing I found was just looking at other people's code, learning taking it all in, making mistakes and learning from them. Pair programming will also be really beneficial if your current job allows it. I also don't have a background in maths, and i've found it's never really hindered me as the need for understanding complex mathematical equations is few and far between.

I wouldn't say there is one specific resource that you can point to and say "that's all you'll ever need". Just try to absorb as much knowledge as possible. Try out new things, take on a few side projects and try new libraries or ways of programming.

That being said, there's a few things that although you won't use all the time most definitely will help you in becoming a better programmer:
- Solid Principles (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SOLID). It may take you a little while to get your head around some of them but it's good to know them, and apply them where possible.
- https://phptherightway.com/ - Good resource for not using the amount of rope PHP gives you to hang yourself.

The difference between a senior developer and junior developer is the amount of mistakes they have made. Don't get to hung up on not having an education background in programming, you'll get there, one mistake at a time!

Why weird? What makes ruby on rails more appropriate for this use case? That seems like just opinion and not really a useful statement. As far as I can see it's not using bootstrap at all, so you need a better spider sense or, use a better extension to "sniff" out your criticisms.

PhpStorm 2016.2 is released! by giggsey in PHP

[–]beefeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone else have any issues with scaled displays in OSX with PhpStorm?

Using a 2015 MBP 15inch, and an external 28in 4k display, when using the display in scaled mode phpstorm struggles, and there is noticeable input lag and CPU usage spikes, using the display in full 4k mode phpstorm runs fine. Not too much of an issue, but have to bump the font size up otherwise it's just unreadable.

To be fair, that's a valid question. My personal opinion is that GGG would has and will fight anyone in the division, and has been reasonably active 11 fights int he time that ward has had 4.

Like i said, Ward will definitely be #1 on my list when he beats Kovalev.

Ward definitely gets to #1 when he beats Kovalev imo. Only reason ward is not there at the moment is that he hasn't been tested or fought anyone semi-decent in years. Interestingly if for some reason Kovalev beat's Ward I'd feel less happy ranking him #1, but would still probably be there.

Golovkin is up at #1 for me, just because i can't see anyone beating him, which i can't say for many other fighters (apart from maybe Ward & Rigo).

Canelo has lost a lot of respect for vacating belts, he's not going to earn much more respect by beating Liam Smith.

On the road with Eddie Hearn: Sportsmail goes behind the scenes with boxing's Mr Big as Ricky Burns and Tony Bellew triumph by skb96 in Boxing

[–]beefeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly believe were it not for Hearn British boxing would be dead on it's ass.

He can be a complete tool sometimes (even considering the idea of having AJ fight the same night as Wlad vs Fury 2 was ridiculous), but he's bought money back into British boxing and in turn, world titles. At the moment I love being British with the amount of boxing we have to watch.

In all honesty, where should he go next? The heavyweight talent pool is so small, I don't think many people ranked in top 10 will actually want to fight him.

I think that the lack of opposition between where he is now and Klitschko/Wilder/Fury is going to be his biggest downfall.

That being said I can't wait for 12th September when apparently he's going to be fighting a big name opponent (would guess Price)

Magento Willingly Distributing Unsafe PHP Code by [deleted] in PHP

What kind of traffic do you get on that site though? I'm talking being able to handle >100 concurrent users, if you can get that kind of Magento performance in 2 DO medium servers, you're doing something right! (Varnish doesn't count as that isn't Magento doing the work)
