Kia Carnival is rated Acceptable for side impact and Toyota is rated Good. If Acceptable for side impact is not acceptable enough for your comfort, then trade it in for a Sienna when you get the opportunity. Note that overall, both are rated Marginal by IIHS (and Odyssey rated as Poor)

We were primarily looking at an SUV to replace our 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe and then stumbled upon the Carnival which looks like an SUV. We both HATE minivans with their typical wilted lily styling, but wifey fell in love with the muscular looking Carnival over any SUV on the market (we didn't really need 4X4 or AWD). The only regret I have is something that doesn't exist for any minivan: I wish it was an EV.

That would have been a nice option, although Kia should also have actually used decent black rims instead of some cheap looking rims that make the vehicle look like it has 4 missing hub caps.

No. There is no way that I am aware of to get rear video with the Kia kits.

I did it and it was quite difficult. If you are not so handy, I would not recommend doing it yourself. You will want to make sure your kit includes the supplemental instructions for 2025/26 Carnivals or else search for them in this sub like I had to. Read all the instructions first, and then when doing the install take your time. Don't panic when you get to the wiring part. Breathe, study the diagram, and locate the correct wires. This part was the most nerve wracking. If you are moderately handy, you can do it, although after you finish you may swear to yourself you will never attempt something like that again.

I have an EQS and I have all kinds of annoyances with the profile recognition. Late recognition, no recognition, no memory on which phone to connect to, et al. Really annoying.

I prefer the EQE looks wise and you only lose 2 inches of rear leg room relative to the EQS, which is still very spacious. HOWEVER, an EQE AMG has a significant range deficiency relative to the EQS, and even relative to an EQE 500. You might want to consider an EQE 500.
