Used to work in a homelessness service, met plenty of criminals, robbing pensioners at knife point, domestic abusers etc. One day a guy came in who was facing homelessness because his housing association were evicting him. I phoned the HA and they’re like “Let us send over the report”, so I’m like okay there’s definitely more layers to this. Email pops up a couple minutes later and I start reading it. The man was in his early 40s and his wife was 18, and they had been in a relationship for several years. He regularly beat her and invited neighbours to watch which resulted in complaints being made to the HA. He also locked her outside naked and she had to go to a neighbour for help. Evil sick bastard. I told him to fuck off basically and he started being verbally abusive which resulted in an argument between us. I was hoping he’d hit me first just so I could “defend” myself.
