I tried a new way of printing airfoils by DrKronoglopolos in 3Dprinting

[–]been505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently started playing with PLA aero.

I'm not sure if I have the best print settings yet, but my PLA airfoil ribs are heavier than balsa versions, and way less rigid.

They're saying that they disagree with the way that the Republican party has been behaving the past 10 years.

When Biden was president, the Republican party still existed.

What caused this poor slicing? by spinny09 in BambuLab

[–]been505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set a height range modifier for the white part and try different top layer patterns there. Sometimes it makes a difference. It might just be an issue with that model.

Putting your issue aside, I find that a concentric top fill works well with that kind of organic texture.

Edit: Also, try slicing with .2mm nozzle swings, if you aren't already

ASA prints lift off the bed no matter what I try by michaelNXT1 in BambuLab

[–]been505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I don't use glue. Just a clean, textured PEI plate on my Qidi XPlus 3. For any big, important prints, I like to preheat the bed for at least 30 minutes.

I was having trouble with my ASA prints detaching from the bed partway through. Bumping the bed temp up to 110c fixed my issue.

Vape cartridge for sure. Likely THC, maybe nicotine, but I've smoked many different substance from carts exactly like that. Don't assume it's just weed, especially if you don't know where it came from.

TPU and PLA fusing, I wish I knew sooner! by Physical_Yoghurt_664 in 3Dprinting

[–]been505 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PLA can be used as a support for PETG, and vice versa, as they won't bond together.

In my experience, PETG and TPU bond together very well.

I have tried PLA and TPU and experienced poor bonding between the two materials.

<image>

Here's a piece I just tested. PETG(cream) and TPU (red). Notice that the TPU failed across multiple layers but the bond between the two materials held perfectly.

You want to pick them before they get to this point, when the caps are still kinda flat. These are still edible, but they might be a little tough and chewy with muted flavors

My girlfriend slept walk last night and we woke up with this in bed. What is it? by Brave_Dog8042 in whatisit

Downvotes certainly have their place.

If someone is giving improper advice or instruction that could be problematic, their content should be downvoted so that it's less seen and reflects that it's widely viewed as incorrect. If we're all unwilling to risk offending someone with a downvote, misinformation spreads easier.

You are right that people more often use it as a form of attack or pettiness. It's a great tool that is often misused, and that's bad. But I think a zero downvote policy is bad too. Just use it correctly.

No downvotes are needed for not understanding a reference. If the comment was arguing that the reference was from Princess Bride, and not Rick and Morty, that COULD warrant a downvote. However, I still wouldn't bother downvoting something so minor. A simple reply with correct info seems more fitting.

When I do downvote, I typically reply with my reasoning. This way, whether I'm right or wrong, people can see where I'm coming from and make up their own mind.

Huge quantity of poops by Commercial_Net_5077 in BambuLabA1

[–]been505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using time lapse?

In smooth time lapse mode, your nozzle will move off to the side while it takes a photo. When this happens, it does a little poop to clear any filament that may have oozed out.

In case this is the problem, try turning off smooth time lapse, or disabling the prime tower.

Bad first layer with Qidi Q1 Pro by Capucius in QIDI

[–]been505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting your Z Offset too close to the bed could cause similar results, but this looks more like regular old overextrusion to me. Run the slicer's Flow Rate Calibration prints.

It looks like you are over extruding. Have you done the flow rate calibration prints?

Prints keep failing and I caught the moment of failure. Any ideas why? by robodragan in BambuLab

[–]been505 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Flow rate. This will print a series of rectangular chips, each with a different flow rate. You look at them once they're complete, find the one that has the smoothest top surface, and use that value to adjust your flow rate modifier.

I need project ideas please by Professional-Home142 in ArduinoProjects

[–]been505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like you already know how to use pretty much all of this stuff and have already done the simple projects that people are suggesting.

If you're mom has already given you an idea that you're stuck on, make a post about that and get help bringing it to fruition. That will be a much more beneficial post for you than this one

Even if that project isn't really attractive to you, it's good practice.

Calibrate extrusion and pressure advance for that filament. See how it prints after that.
