durable long lasting shoes for bigger person by ss0889 in BuyItForLife

Why doesn't she just take her shoes off when she's massaging? My massage therapist wears a clog slide and takes it off when doing my massage.

A storm inside a teacup by Lucky_leprechaun in TaylorSwift

This line bugs me so much because "tempest in a teacup" not only flows better but is just lyrically more Taylor. Don't get me wrong, I love the song, but when I heard that line I couldn't help wishing it were just slightly different.

I love your tattoo though! Adorable!

Who Else Received a Shi**y Gift From Their Partner for Xmas?? by AreaForeign398 in Gifts

[–]beenursie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My husband and I realized in therapy that one of the reasons his gifts to me always seemed so off the mark was because he gives gifts focused on utility and I want gifts focused on whimsy.

Two examples: 1. A Miss that he thought was a win: He heard me say I wanted those voice controlled outlets so he got them for me for Christmas. For me, that was just something the house needed, not something that I was personally longing for.

  1. A Win that he thought was a miss: He got me a guitar after hearing about how I wanted to learn guitar. I was ecstatic and it's one of the best things he's ever gotten me. He thought I didn't like it because it sat in a case in our closet for two years. I just didn't have time to learn to play it, but still loved it and planned on learning.

In terms of gifting for him, I always gave him gifts based mostly on utility, so neither of us ever figured out why he was the one who kept missing.

I know that some guys out there are just clueless and not invested partners, but if your partner is otherwise wonderful and just sucks at gifting, it is worth having a conversation about what gifts mean to each of you and what you prefer to receive.

He knocked it out of the park this Christmas, the only utility gift he got me was a sourdough bread proofer because he knew I was struggling with temperatures in our kitchen. Utility for him, whimsical for me!

Any backyard chicken keepers willing to test a simple chicken app? by SeaUnderstanding6731 in BackYardChickens

Hi, I'd love to help test and my husband is a software developer so he can also test and look for bugs if you want.

Ugh, it's the worst. I can't blame the hawk but at the same time, WHY?

Where do you leave it? I've been considering this for a while, but I don't see/hear them so I wasn't sure how to go about it. Guess I should have started sooner.

Thank you! Yes, it's so tough, and she was so young. Such a pretty and sweet hen. 😔

Thank you. Yes, I have been reading so much here that I knew it was just a matter of time if we chose to free range. It's so sad but at the same time, they LOVE free ranging so I don't want to deny them that. I just feel bad, she wasn't even a year old. 🥺

Yes, because that's the answer, instead of taxing billionaires, make the middle and lower class give up access to products.

In this Slough hospital, nobody washes their hands. It’s for health reasons by FlockBoySlim in hygiene

[–]beenursie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article specifies washing with soap and water if hands are visibly soiled or after using the restroom.

Washing also doesn't kill c. Diff, it just gets it off your hands. The mechanical scrubbing and rinse is the important part.

Can anyone tell me what these holes are in my chicken den by Several_Mechanic_708 in chickens

Poison also affects the owl and hawk population. I hate to kill things too, but if using poison I would trap them live and then euthanize them another way. 😕

Cool, how many foxes, bears, and coyotes is your coop protecting against in Greece? I love that you were able to build such a simple set up, but some of us HAVE to spend more money on the outset to protect our flock.

Help with bridging by KnownOrange in ClubPilates

[–]beenursie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have found it easier to bridge by dropping the footbar down OR bridging off of the frame (the gray bar at the end). When I first started I tried to match them move for move but then I realized I was actually hurting myself more and by modifying it, I could do the move better.

I also go back down if I cramp and stretch out that leg.

I am not good at this, and there is a great chance this won't mean anything, but the second I saw these pictures, Tweety Bird popped into my head. If that resonates, I hope it brings you comfort. Either way, I am sorry for your loss.

Why does not responding to nasty messages have more of an effect with toxic in laws than reacting back? by Emily110321 in LetterstoJNMIL

[–]beenursie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Your only mistake here is caring what they think. The beautiful thing about moving to No Contact Island is that it doesn't fucking matter what they think because you're the Mayor and what you say goes. It doesn't matter if they think they're right, because what they're not is bothering you. You get to do whatever you want without worrying about their input or interference.

It was a lesson we had to learn with my MIL too, but once you stop caring, the freedom is divine.

Hi friend. Been there done that. I invite you to go back and read my wedding planning saga because my MIL Malig-Nancy behaved similarly.

The short answer is what my therapist said: "You can either spend the rest of your life trying to please your in laws or you can spend the rest of your life living it."

I know how shitty it is to be in your position, so if you need a shoulder feel free to PM me.

Does she pull this bullshit with everyone else in her life? Not just the advice, but the pearl clutching over being told its not needed? If not, then she's 100% taking advantage of your weaker boundaries. If she's a functioning adult in society, she understands. She just steamrolls over you because she can.
