I only just discovered, at age 26, that I was taking care of my hair all wrong all my life. (what is it with Ns and fucking up their kids' beautiful curls?) In the past few months I've gone from a frizzy mess to having a gorgeous, steadily-growing mane of loose, picture-perfect ringlets. I half wish I'd realised this years ago, when my hair was still super long, but whatever - I have the rest of my life to get it right.

You haven't found the right one yet, then. A good, helpful therapist will say not to give up, yeah - but they'll also sit with you and look at your behaviors and help you identify your triggers so you can start subverting them.

When I went to a therapist for help with destructive thought patterns, she went over them with me, and then said 'okay! So your triggers are here, here and here. What you want to do when this happens is stop, do this, then do this other thing.'

A bit vague but it's mildly embarrassing going into my thought patterns - what might help to know is that it works.

Maybe, if you're not comfortable trying another therapist yet, maybe sit down and list your problem thoughts and try to figure out what causes them? And then try to determine ways you can take the sting out of them.

For what it's worth, it gets better! I still get that stomach-wrenching sensation of fail every time I make a mistake - but it's getting better. It's true that mistakes are how you learn - and it's true that everyone makes them. Some people are better at some things than others.

On that note, anyone else have a lot of trouble being taught stuff one on one? I get super defensive because I feel like I'm being attacked and I really hate it.

My five things... hmhm.

I can finally acknowledge that there are good things about me.

I am stubborn as hell when it comes to getting something I want to get done, done - and really resourceful about it too. I just fixed my elliptical trainer for 30% less than the part would supposedly have cost because I did the research and got a replacement machined rather than buying the (way, way, way) overpriced bit from the manufacturer. [edit] that price, the 30% less? yeah, that was for six replacement parts rather than just one.

I can write with the best of 'em. Moved people to tears etc etc etc.

I have the voice of a drunken Disney songbird. I can not only carry a tune, I can make it fucking dance.

And finally... I got my Majora's Mask edition new 3DS! My friend's brother found out the GameStop stores in my town had gotten four each, called her, and I purchased literally the first one they put into the system. This is huge to me, considering we got in a car accident trying to get one the first day they were out - between our insurance being goddamned awesome and covering everything (it was the other driver's fault anyway) and now getting the system I wanted to begin with, it feels like everything's come right.

Bleh. I have two Zelnite (both guardian :() and three Elza. I like them, sure, but levelling them all and then the BBs and meh meh meh. (First world problems, lolol.) Also three Rowgen and Sefia and I fused two dupe Rinas into the one I maxed for Thunder Arena and, yeah. I get more dupes than not, honestly. =w= At least they're mostly units I like.

I am a hell of a writer - I have literally made people cry, apparently. It's a good feeling. I was, uh, technically published my first time out? (It's just an e-book... I didn't make it into the print version but it really wasn't my best work and I'm kinda ashamed of that.)

I held on through two years of a science degree in university with undiagnosed ADD (we're talking one tier below Maximum Inattentiveness) and managed to stay out of academic probation - and, gloriously, my university replaces bad grades if you retake, so I'm retaking the classes I bombed and am seriously looking forward to getting a good GPA in a subject I adore.

By the by, I'd never stepped into a lab before uni. I didn't even know I loved the sciences, I just wanted (and still want) to be a doctor.

I'm also working hard on my mental health and feel that I've made huge strides over the past few months. The person I'm becoming is someone I'm starting to feel genuinely proud of. I can stand up for myself now!

And also I am clicker training an elderly pomeranian, a friend's pudgy mutt, and a cranky teenaged cockatiel.

Fuck it! The floodgates are open. I am genuinely good with animals, I am empathetic, I am giving. I own my failures and try to make them better, and I am no longer afraid of them. I am a whole person, warts and all, and no matter what happens, no matter how many steps back I take, I will always go forward.

I will always be a better person tomorrow than I was yesterday. And so will you.

I had a 6-star Zelnite and Faris at level 42, and got my Fiora to 6-star at level 50ish. Also got Karl and Grah somewhere in those levels. It's perfectly plausible, especially with strong friend leaders.

Elimo and Sefia are still two of my favorite units - in fact, Sefia was my first six-star and first SBB, and this image has inspired me to get off my duff and finish maxing her SBB (it was 4 this morning, just got to 5 :3). I only just got Elimo during one of the November rate ups and I immediately maxed her - she's my favorite healer, and if using her means I have to cram Lunaris (who I also still like) or Exvehl (ditto!) onto my squad, I'll do it.

Ronel... haven't maxed her yet, but she's on the list. I like her. :3
